Production is heating up in Connecticut for ‘The One’ , a psychological thriller written, directed, and starring Kent Moran. The indie project from Wishing Well Pictures has added four familiar faces to its cast: Emily Kinney (The Walking Dead), Hayley McFarland (The Conjuring), Zach Roerig (The Vampire Diaries), and Catherine Curtin (Stranger Things).
The film, which began production in late May and will run through June 16, 2026, is shooting on location in Stamford and Greenwich, Connecticut.
The Cast and Their Roles
Emily Kinney leads the film as Jackie, a successful entrepreneur searching for lasting love. Kinney, best known for playing Beth Greene on The Walking Dead, takes on the complex role of a woman who finds herself trapped in a dangerous situation.
Zach Roerig, famous for his role as Matt Donovan on The Vampire Diaries, joins the cast in an undisclosed role. Hayley McFarland, who appeared in The Conjuring and Lie to Me, and Catherine Curtin, known for her work in Stranger Things and Orange Is the New Black, round out the ensemble.
Kent Moran himself stars as Colt, the obsessive ex-boyfriend. Moran has previously starred in films including The Challenger opposite Michael Clarke Duncan and Redemption in Cherry Springs.
What ‘The One’ Is About
‘The One’ follows Jackie, a woman who ends a whirlwind romance with the seemingly perfect Colt (Moran). However, after the breakup, Jackie discovers that Colt’s obsession runs far deeper than she imagined. He believes Jackie is his soulmate and “will go to terrifying lengths to hold onto her,” setting off a dangerous game of control, manipulation, and survival.
Director’s Statement
“I’m thrilled to be collaborating with such an extraordinary cast,” Moran said in a statement. “At its core, The One examines how the desire for connection can become distorted into something far more dangerous. It’s an intimate thriller driven by complex characters, and I’m excited to bring that story to life with this team.”

Production Details
The film is produced by Angela Ostermeier, Kent Moran, and Kat Moran under the Wishing Well Pictures banner. Principal photography began May 26 and will wrap up June 16, 2026.
Moran has a track record of securing major distribution for his independent projects. His previous features have landed deals with Warner Bros., Netflix, Paramount+, Showtime, Hallmark, Lifetime, Amazon, and Hulu. While distribution for ‘The One’ has not been announced yet, industry watchers expect it to follow a similar path given the genre alignment and Moran’s distribution history.
A release date for the movie has not yet been set.
