The April 20 episode of The Rookie brought back some familiar faces and introduced new ones as the Mid-Wilshire division faced one of their toughest assignments. Episode 16 of Season 8, titled ‘Out of Time,’ pushed John Nolan and his team into dangerous territory when they had to protect a man nobody trusted.
The episode aired on ABC at 10 PM ET and is now available for streaming. Here is the complete breakdown of everyone who appeared in the episode.
Main Cast Returns for Another Intense Episode
The core team of The Rookie was back in full force for Episode 16. These are the officers and detectives viewers follow every week.
Nathan Fillion led the episode as John Nolan, the oldest rookie who has become a trusted officer. In ‘Out of Time,’ Nolan got a tough assignment. He had to protect Liam Glasser, a serial killer who once tried to kill him. Nolan showed his dedication to the badge by jumping in front of a bullet for Glasser. His bulletproof vest took most of the hit, but it proved that Nolan follows the rules even when he hates the person he is protecting.
Melissa O’Neil played Lucy Chen, who worked with her team to find the person behind a drive-by shooting. Her detective skills helped narrow down the list of suspects. Eric Winter returned as Tim Bradford, and his storyline focused on personal life. Tim planned to propose to Lucy. His mother Joy came to town with his grandmother’s ring. But the ring turned out to be fake, so Tim asked his mom to go shopping for a new one with him.
Alyssa Diaz played Angela Lopez, who found herself in a difficult position. Her husband Wesley started a new job as a defense attorney. His first client was a man accused of murder. Angela worked the same case as the detective. The couple ended up on opposite sides of the courtroom.
Mekia Cox returned as Nyla Harper. The episode was hard for her because she had to protect Liam Glasser, the man who almost destroyed her career. Glasser had escaped punishment before and was back asking for police protection. Nyla did her job but also gave advice to Glasser’s ex-wife during a difficult custody fight.
Richard T. Jones appeared as Wade Grey, the station’s leader. Shawn Ashmore played Wesley Evers, Angela’s husband who took on a new role as a defense lawyer. Lisseth Chavez played Celina Juarez, who worked with Lucy on a promising lead. Deric Augustine returned as Miles Penn, the rookie who helped Nolan protect Glasser.
Jenna Dewan also appeared as Bailey Nune, Nolan’s wife.
