Netflix is getting ready to release a new true crime documentary called The Widower: Til Death Do Us Part. The film tells the shocking story of Thomas Randolph, a Las Vegas man who married six times. Four of his wives died under suspicious circumstances. The documentary arrives on September 30, 2026, and it promises to dig deep into one of the most bizarre criminal cases in recent history.
The case has fascinated true crime fans for years. Randolph, now 71, earned the nickname “The Black Widower” after investigators connected the dots between his marriages and a string of dead wives. He is currently serving a prison sentence of 60 years to life at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada.

The official trailer, released on September 2, 2026, opens with a disturbing 911 call. Randolph can be heard panicking as he tells the operator that his wife has been shot in the head. The trailer then shifts to a journalist who describes the case as one of the most bizarre and insane he has ever dealt with.
In the trailer, Randolph tries to defend himself. He says, “I’m a nice guy. I’m cocky, but certainly doesn’t make me a murderer.” He also claims to be a victim rather than a killer. But the investigators and journalists in the documentary see him differently. They describe him as a manipulative person who played the legal system. The trailer ends with Randolph confidently saying, “In the end, I am gonna win.”
The 2008 Murder That Started Everything
The story begins on May 8, 2008. Thomas Randolph called 911 and reported that a masked intruder had broken into his Las Vegas home and shot his wife, Sharon Causse. Randolph told the operator that he then shot and killed the intruder in self-defense.
But investigators did not buy his story. They soon discovered that the so-called intruder was actually Michael Miller, a handyman who had been hired by Randolph. Prosecutors later revealed that Randolph wanted to collect more than $300,000 in life insurance money from Sharon’s death.
Randolph was arrested in January 2009 in Utah. But the case took more than eight years to go to trial.
Thomas Randolph’s Six Marriages and Four Dead Wives
As investigators dug deeper, they uncovered Randolph’s disturbing history. He had been married six times. Only two of his wives are still alive.
Kathryn Thomas was Randolph’s first wife. She married him in 1975 when she was just 18 years old. She is one of the two wives who are still alive. While she admitted that Randolph could be charming and witty, she also described his dark side. She testified against him in the 2017 trial, calling him manipulative and controlling.
Becky Gault was his second wife. They married in 1983. Three years later, in 1986, she died from a gunshot wound to her head. Her death was initially ruled a suicide. Randolph collected a $250,000 life insurance payout. He was acquitted of her murder in 1989.
Gayna Allmon was his third wife. Like Kathryn, she is still alive and also testified against Randolph in the 2017 trial.
Francis Randolph was his fourth wife. She died in a hospital after what was supposed to be successful heart surgery. Reports later suggested that Randolph had hired a hitman named Glen Morrison to kill her, but the plan did not succeed.
Details about his fifth wife are less documented. His sixth wife was Sharon Causse, whose murder in 2008 finally led to his conviction.
The First Trial and Death Sentence
In 2017, Thomas Randolph went to trial for the murders of Sharon Causse and Michael Miller. A Clark County jury found him guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder. He was sentenced to death.
But the Nevada Supreme Court overturned his conviction in 2020 (some sources say 2021). The court ruled that the trial was unfair because prosecutors had presented prejudicial evidence about the deaths of his previous wives, especially Becky Gault. The jury should not have heard about that case, the court decided.
The Second Trial and Final Sentence
A second jury trial took place in 2023. Once again, Randolph was found guilty of two counts of murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.
On April 4, 2024, District Judge Tierra Jones sentenced Randolph to 60 years to life in prison. The judge ordered that each charge would run consecutively. Randolph gave a bizarre 15-minute speech at his sentencing hearing, still maintaining his innocence.
“I didn’t kill Sharon,” Randolph said. “I have nothing to do with this.”

Recent Appeal Rejected by Nevada Supreme Court
In a major development, the Nevada Supreme Court rejected Randolph’s appeal on September 2, 2026. The court upheld his conviction, saying that his many legal challenges do not merit a third trial.
Randolph had filed seven legal challenges in total. He argued that the 15 years leading up to his 2023 conviction were too long and that his right to a speedy trial had been violated. But the state Supreme Court disagreed.
“After considering each of the relevant factors, we conclude that Randolph has not shown his right to a speedy trial was violated,” the court wrote. “Therefore, no relief is warranted on this ground.”
Randolph also argued that incriminating statements he made during a walkthrough of the crime scene should have been suppressed. The court rejected this argument as well.
Where Thomas Randolph Is Now
Thomas Randolph remains in prison at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Pershing County, Nevada. He is serving his sentence of 60 years to life. Given his age of 71, he will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars.
