How Season 2 Began: Kimmie’s Shocking Rise to Power

Season 2 picked up right after the Season 1 finale. Kimmie had just married Horace on what everyone believed was his deathbed. Horace, tired of his entitled children and their corrupt behavior, named Kimmie the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Beauty in Black hair-care empire.

The Bellarie family was furious. Roy (Julian Horton) and Charles (Steven G. Norfleet), Horace’s sons, along with his brother Norman (Richard Lawson) and ex-wife Olivia (Debbi Morgan), all believed the company belonged to them. They refused to accept Kimmie’s authority and spent the first half of the season trying to push her out.

Mallory (Crystle Stewart), Roy’s wife and the former face of the brand, became Kimmie’s biggest opponent. The two women fought constantly for control of the business. But Kimmie was not backing down. She had her own plans to modernize the company through social media and new marketing strategies.

Part 1: The Mid-Season Cliffhanger

The first part of Season 2 dropped on September 11, 2025. It showed Kimmie adjusting to her new life of wealth and privilege while trying to protect her sister Sylvie and her friends Rain (Amber Reign Smith) and Angel (Xavier Smalls) from the criminal underworld that still haunted them.

Things got dark quickly. Charles spiraled out of control when club employees tried to rob him. He killed them and attempted to cover it up by dismembering the bodies. The mid-season finale ended with Charles getting caught in the middle of that gruesome cleanup.

Meanwhile, Mallory discovered that her husband Roy was having an affair with a woman named Felicia. In a fit of rage, Mallory locked them inside their bedroom and intentionally crashed her SUV into the mansion, setting the house on fire. Roy and Felicia survived, but the incident changed everything.

Part 2: The Fallout and Unlikely Alliances

Part 2 premiered on March 19, 2026, and shifted the focus to consequences. The biggest shock came when Rain accidentally shoved Glen, Jules’ son, off a balcony. She discovered him with Sylvie and thought he was attacking her, but they were actually engaging in consensual activity. Glen was left brain-dead and eventually died in the hospital.

Jules (Charles Malik Whitfield), Glen’s father, became convinced that Kimmie was behind his son’s death. He even kidnapped Sylvie for information but backed off when he realized she was under Horace’s protection. Jules remains a dangerous threat, still searching for the truth about what happened to his son.

The most significant development came when Mallory realized she needed a way out. She discovered that Roy had placed illegal shell companies in her name. Seeing no other option, Mallory joined forces with Kimmie and Horace to gather evidence against the rest of the family.

Horace, who had been receiving experimental cancer treatment in Italy, recovered and returned home. He looked healthy and furious. Together with Kimmie and Mallory, he set a trap for the rest of the Bellarie family.

“Kimmie’s transformation has honestly been one of the highlights of my career so far. Getting to dive into a character’s evolution is one of my favorite things ever about acting.” – Taylor Polidore Williams told Netflix Tudum

The Final Showdown: FBI Arrests the Bellarie Family

The Season 2 finale delivered one of the most dramatic moments in the series. During a board meeting, Kimmie, now fully in control as COO, called the family together. Mallory sat at her side. Then Horace walked in.

Roy, Charles, Jules, Olivia, and Norman were caught completely off guard. They had spent two seasons scheming, stealing, sabotaging Horace’s cancer treatment, and in Charles’s case, committing murder. But Horace had been working behind the scenes. He had secretly handed over all their financial records and evidence of their crimes to the authorities.

Horace told the room: “This is chess, and you’re still playing checkers. Checkmate”. Then federal agents walked in and arrested Jules, Norman, Roy, Olivia, and Charles.

Kimmie, Mallory, Horace, and Varney (Terrell Carter) walked out of the boardroom together, leaving the rest of the family in handcuffs.

Where Things Stand Before Season 3

The Season 2 finale left the Bellarie empire in a completely new state. Kimmie now has full control of the company. But she faces major challenges ahead.

Mallory and Kimmie, who spent most of the season as enemies, have formed an alliance. They now run the company together alongside Horace. But this partnership is still fragile. Both women are powerful and have their own ambitions.

The arrested family members face federal charges. But they are unlikely to go quietly. Jules is still grieving his son’s death and remains convinced that Kimmie is responsible. Roy faces a brutal time behind bars. With so many enemies still out there, Kimmie’s position is far from secure.

Season 3 of Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black premieres on August 27, 2026, with all eight episodes releasing together on Netflix. The official logline for the new season states: “Kimmie finally has a seat at the Bellarie table, but when a deadly family feud erupts, she’s forced into an uneasy alliance with Mallory. Together, they navigate a ruthless world of blackmail, revenge, and buried secrets as the family wages war against one of its own, threatening to bring the entire empire crashing down”.

The first two seasons of Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black are streaming now on Netflix.
