Indonesian streaming platform Vidio has officially partnered with ReelShort, the world’s leading microdrama platform owned by Crazy Maple Studio. This marks ReelShort’s first entry into the Indonesian market. The collaboration was announced in Jakarta on August 26, 2026.
Starting September 1, 2026, hundreds of ReelShort titles will be available on Vidio through a dedicated Short Drama tab. The partnership includes more than 200 catalog titles and a co-production slate for new short drama series created with Indonesian production houses.
What ReelShort Brings to Vidio Subscribers
ReelShort is known for its fast-paced storytelling style, with each episode running just 60 to 90 seconds. The format is designed for viewers who want quick, engaging stories they can watch during short breaks in their day.
The initial catalog will feature more than 200 titles across popular genres including romance, billionaire romance, fantasy, and family drama. Most of these titles will be available with full Indonesian dubbing, while a wider selection will come with Indonesian subtitles.
Thousands of episodes will be accessible through Vidio’s Short Drama feature. Subscribers on TV Extra, Platinum, Platinum Extra, and Ultimate packages will be able to watch this content.
Co-Production Plans with Indonesian Creators
Beyond just bringing existing content to Indonesia, this partnership includes a significant co-production component. ReelShort and Vidio plan to produce original short drama series together with Indonesian production houses.
This collaboration creates opportunities for Indonesian creative talent to gain production expertise from ReelShort’s global experience. The resulting series will appear on both platforms, combining ReelShort’s global content scale with local production capabilities.
The agreement was facilitated by AR Global Media Network.
Indonesia’s Growing Appetite for Short-Form Content
The partnership comes at a time when short-form drama consumption is rising rapidly across Indonesia. According to recent data from Media Partners Asia (MPA) , Indonesia has become the largest market for short-form drama viewership in the Asia-Pacific region, accounting for 39% of the region’s total audience.
ReelShort currently leads the global short-form drama market with an estimated 29% revenue share. Mobile ad company Mintegral has recorded quarterly growth of 50% to 200% for short-form drama apps since the third quarter of 2023.
Vidio closed the second quarter of 2026 with 5.8 million paying subscribers across Southeast Asia, ranking third in the region. The platform’s Short Drama section has been available since last year.
Vidio CEO Explains the Move
“Vidio continues to evolve alongside the changing ways Indonesians consume entertainment,” said Sutanto Hartono, CEO of Vidio. “As audiences increasingly look for content that fits seamlessly into their daily lives, we want to ensure they can find every type of entertainment they love on a single platform, from live sports, local originals, global entertainment to now, the rapidly growing format of short dramas.”
“Our partnership with ReelShort not only responds to this emerging audience demand but also strengthens Vidio’s position as Indonesia’s most comprehensive entertainment platform, offering more choice, greater convenience, and an even richer viewing experience for our subscribers.”
ReelShort’s Southeast Asia Expansion Continues
The Vidio deal extends ReelShort’s Southeast Asian expansion strategy. The platform previously formed strategic partnerships with AIS in Thailand and Globe in the Philippines.
“Indonesia is one of the region’s most dynamic entertainment markets,” said Joey Jia, founder and CEO of Crazy Maple Studio, which owns ReelShort. “We see tremendous potential not only to expand access to our global catalogue, but also to create original stories for Indonesian audiences.”
“Through our planned local productions with Vidio and Indonesian production partners, we look forward to combining ReelShort’s global experience in developing high-performing short-drama IP with local creative talent to build stories and franchises that resonate locally while reaching audiences across the region and beyond.”
The partnership is part of a broader shift in how audiences consume entertainment, as microdramas move toward the mainstream.

What This Means for Indonesian Viewers
Indonesian audiences will soon have access to thousands of short drama episodes right on Vidio. The content is designed for mobile-first viewing, with each episode lasting only about a minute. This makes it easy to watch a complete story during a commute, lunch break, or any short free moment.
The partnership also means more locally produced short dramas will be created in Indonesia. Indonesian production houses and creative professionals will work alongside ReelShort’s global team, bringing international production standards to local storytelling.
With Indonesia already being the largest short-drama market in Asia-Pacific, this collaboration is expected to further boost the popularity of the format in the country.
