Netflix has given fans a first look at the new season of their hit show. Jenna Ortega returns as the deadpan teen detective, but this time she is far away from Nevermore Academy. The new image places Wednesday Addams right in the middle of Paris, France.
The streaming service posted the photo on their official Instagram account. The caption read, “From Paris, with dread”. In the picture, Ortega stands in front of the famous Eiffel Tower. She wears her usual all-black outfit. Right next to her, sitting on a motorcycle, is Thing (played by Victor Dorobantu). The image suggests a big change of scenery for the third season.
Fans have been waiting for updates since the second season dropped in 2025. The first season of the show became a massive success for Netflix. It remains the most-viewed English-language series on the platform. This new look at season three has gotten people excited to see what happens next.
Production Moves From Dublin to the Streets of Paris
Filming for Wednesday Season 3 started in February 2026 near Dublin, Ireland. The crew has been working in the moody landscapes of Ireland. Tim Burton is back as director and executive producer. He was recently seen on set with Ortega in Paris.
The Paris shoot seems to be a short trip for the production. On-location filming in the French capital started on April 18 and finished on April 20. This small but important shoot shows that season three will have a wider world. Wednesday is leaving the school grounds and going to real cities.
Season two ended with a big cliffhanger. Wednesday jumped into Uncle Fester’s (Fred Armisen) motorcycle sidecar. She set out to find her roommate Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), who turned into a full wolf and ran away. The Paris setting could mean her search has taken her across Europe.
The official logline for season three describes the show as following “smart, sarcastic and a little dead inside, Wednesday Addams” as she “investigates twisted mysteries while making new friends and foes at Nevermore Academy”.
New Cast Members Join the Growing Addams Family
Season three will bring many new faces to the show. Eva Green joins the cast as Aunt Ophelia, Morticia Addams’ sister. This family reunion will likely cause problems for Wednesday. Winona Ryder is also set to guest star in a role named Tabitha.
Other new additions include:
- Lena Headey (known for Game of Thrones)
- Chris Sarandon (The Princess Bride)
- Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones)
- Oscar Morgan (Gotham Knights)
- Kennedy Moyer
- Andrew McCarthy
- James Lance
Returning cast members include Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Georgie Farmer, Isaac Ordonez, Billie Piper, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones (as Morticia), and Joanna Lumley.
Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar shared what fans can expect. Gough said their goal is “to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can”. Millar added that viewers will see more Addams Family members and learn family secrets in the new season.
Jenna Ortega Shares Hopes for Her Character’s Growth
Ortega has been thinking about where she wants Wednesday to go. She talked about wanting to see Wednesday and Morticia stop fighting. “I would like them to stop arguing and team up,” Ortega said. She explained that the show talked about women banding together in the last episodes. She thinks the show should lean more into that.
Ortega also wants to explore the darker parts of Wednesday’s personality. “I think it’s important to see Wednesday deal with the darker side of herself a little bit, too – but also never taking things too seriously,” she said. She also made a funny request about Wednesday’s brother Pugsley. “I want to see more death attempts between her and Pugsley. She doesn’t try to kill him enough!”
