The toilet is where legendary manga creator Hideaki Sorachi decided to make his big comeback. Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz Chapter 1 officially dropped on April 19, 2026, and it proves the Gintama master has not lost his touch for ridiculous, laugh-out-loud comedy. The first chapter shows a Demon King crawling out of a school bathroom, and things only get stranger from there.

This new series marks Sorachi’s return to Weekly Shonen Jump after seven years. His last work, Gintama, ended in June 2019. Now he is back with a fresh story that mixes fantasy, school life, and his signature brand of chaotic humor.

A Demon King, a School Toilet, and a Very Weird Premise

The story starts after a hero defeats the Demon King Valaris. But the Demon King leaves behind a clone named Valaris III to carry on his legacy. Valaris III escapes through a secret underground tunnel. Where does that tunnel lead? A women’s bathroom at a normal high school in modern-day Japan.

That is not a joke. The Demon King literally crawls out of a toilet.

Once Valaris III arrives, she is stuck without most of her powers. She now has to deal with everyday human struggles. Stairs become dangerous obstacles. Sports equipment turns into deadly weapons. Moving between floors feels like fighting a boss battle. Sorachi takes a powerful Demon King and makes her suffer through the humiliation of normal school life.

The chapter also introduces Akira Kumon, a transfer student with a strange past. His reputation involves violent incidents in restrooms, earning him the silly nickname “Demon King Commode.” Akira can see through Valaris III’s illusions, but he mostly ignores them. He treats her like a weird foreign exchange student rather than a terrifying evil ruler. This refusal to take the fantasy elements seriously becomes one of the funniest running gags in the first chapter.

What Makes This Chapter Work

Sorachi does not waste any time setting things up. The first chapter throws readers directly into the chaos. The humor comes in many forms. Toilet jokes, visual gags, fourth-wall breaks, and silly wordplay all pile on top of each other.

One moment the manga makes fun of fantasy story cliches. The next moment it makes fun of how manga panels are drawn. The comic timing feels very familiar to anyone who read Gintama.

The first chapter is exactly as advertised, a reverse isekai, loaded with toilet humor, very accurate comic timing, and absolutely no remorse; Sorachi hasn’t lost his talent.

Sorachi’s art style remains instantly recognizable. Thick lines, wild facial expressions, and sudden shifts from normal faces to nightmare reactions are all here. The action scenes are not the main focus, but they are smooth enough to support the comedy and keep the pages turning.

The chemistry between Akira and Valaris III already shows promise. Neither one feels like the clear main character yet. This gives the series room to grow in different directions.

Who Should Read This Manga

Readers who loved Gintama will feel right at home here. Fans of The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. or Sakamoto Days will also enjoy the comedic style. The humor is loud, messy, and very self-aware. Sorachi knows exactly how ridiculous his story is, and he leans into it completely.

If you never liked Sorachi’s style before, this chapter will not change your mind. It is proudly immature and chaotic.

The first chapter focuses almost entirely on comedy. But toward the end, there is a hint of something more serious. Sorachi has shown in the past that he can switch from pure nonsense to real emotion when he wants to. Gintama fans know this very well.

What Chapter 1 Sets Up for the Future

The premise is simple on purpose. A Demon King loses her powers and ends up stuck in a high school. A transfer student who can see through her illusions decides to mostly ignore her. Chaos follows.

But the final pages of Chapter 1 add some stakes. There is movement toward more substantial story developments. Sorachi is known for building worlds that start silly and then grow into something bigger. Gintama began as a ridiculous comedy about samurai and aliens before delivering some of the most emotional arcs in shonen history.

For now, Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz is exactly what it promises to be. A funny, messy, and completely in-control comedy from a master of the form.
