Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is all set to appear in the international action thriller ‘7 Dogs’ . The actor recently opened up about the film, calling it a true big-screen experience. Salman said the movie brings together talent from multiple countries and film industries, making it a global project in every way.
The film has already created buzz across the Middle East and is now gearing up for its India release. Salman Khan, who features in a special appearance alongside Sanjay Dutt, shared his excitement about the project and why he believes audiences should watch it in theatres.
Salman Khan Calls ‘7 Dogs’ a Film Made for Theatres
In a recent conversation with Variety India, Salman Khan spoke about the scale and vision of ‘7 Dogs’. He made it clear that this is not a film meant for small screens.
“‘7 Dogs’ is a big-screen film in every sense. The scale, the action, the world they’ve created, it’s all very grand. Turki (Turki Alalshikh, co-writer) and the team have backed it on a huge scale, and Adil and Bilall (Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, directors) have brought their experience of making international action films into it.”
The actor also talked about what drew him to the project. He said working on ‘7 Dogs’ gave him a chance to be part of a collaboration that spans different cultures and film industries. Salman mentioned that he was impressed by the growing ambition of Arab cinema and how it is reaching out to global audiences without losing its own identity.
India Release Date Confirmed for August 21
Salman Khan announced the India release date of ‘7 Dogs’ through his Instagram story on August 10. The film will hit Indian theatres on August 21, 2026. It will be available in both Hindi and English across cinemas in India.
The actor shared a new trailer cut for Indian audiences on his Instagram. The trailer features Hindi dubbing for the Egyptian lead actors, making it more accessible for Indian viewers.
The film has already released in the Middle East earlier this year and is now bringing its action-packed story to Indian audiences.
Star-Studded Cast Brings Together Talent from Across the World
‘7 Dogs’ features an impressive lineup of actors from different countries. The film is led by Egyptian superstars Ahmed Ezz and Karim Abdel Aziz. Alongside them, the movie stars Monica Bellucci from Italy and Giancarlo Esposito from Hollywood, known for his role in ‘Breaking Bad’.
Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt make special appearances in the film. The cast also includes Tara Emad, Nasser Al-Qasabi, and Max Huang.
This marks a reunion for Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt, who have previously worked together in films like ‘Saajan’ (1991), ‘Chal Mere Bhai’ (2000), and ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’ (2002).
Directed by the Duo Behind ‘Bad Boys for Life’
The film is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the filmmaking duo known for directing ‘Bad Boys for Life’ and ‘Bad Boys: Ride or Die’. They have also worked on Marvel’s ‘Ms. Marvel’.

The film has been conceived and co-written by Turki Alalshikh and is produced by Sela Studios with support from the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and Riyadh Season.
Guinness World Record for Largest Film Stunt Explosion
‘7 Dogs’ has already made history even before its India release. The film features a stunt explosion that has earned a place in the Guinness World Records. The blast was recorded as the largest film stunt explosion, with an impact equal to 170.7 tonnes of TNT. This record surpassed the previous one held by James Bond films ‘Spectre’ and ‘No Time to Die’.
The film has been made on a large scale for an Arab-language production. According to GQ Middle East, the reported budget is nearly $40 million, making it one of the most expensive films to come out of the Arab region. Much of the production was filmed at Al-Hosn Big Time Studios in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Action Sequences Designed by ‘John Wick’ Stunt Team
The action and stunt sequences in ‘7 Dogs’ have been developed with the help of 87Eleven, the action and stunt company known for their work on the ‘John Wick’ franchise. Veteran stunt designer Stephen Dunlevy, whose credits include ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ and ‘John Wick’, leads the film’s action and stunt design.
Salman Khan Believes Indian Audiences Will Enjoy the Film
Salman Khan expressed confidence that Indian viewers will connect with ‘7 Dogs’. He described the film as fresh and entertaining, with a truly international feel.
“I think Indian audiences will enjoy it because it’s fresh, it’s entertaining and it’s the kind of film you want to experience in a theatre. It has a truly international feel, and I’m happy to have been a part of it.”
Plot of ‘7 Dogs’
The film follows the story of an Interpol officer named Khalid Al-Azzazi, who arrests Ghali Abu Dawood, a key figure in a global crime syndicate called ‘7 Dogs’. A year later, when the syndicate resurfaces to traffic a deadly new drug called ‘Pink Lady’ across the Middle East, Khalid is forced to team up with Ghali, the only person who understands the group’s inner workings.

Apart from ‘7 Dogs’, Salman Khan has other projects in the pipeline. He will next star in Vamshi Paidipally’s action thriller, tentatively titled SVC63, which also stars South Indian actress Nayanthara. The film is scheduled for an Eid 2027 release. Salman is also set to return as the host of Bigg Boss 20, starting from September 6.
‘7 Dogs’ is scheduled to release in Indian theatres in Hindi and English on August 21, 2026.
