What Happened on Imran Khan’s Flight?
Sehgal found herself seated next to Imran Khan in economy class. Instead of keeping the interaction short, she introduced him to one of her favourite shows. In the video she shared, Imran is seen watching The Vampire Diaries on her phone while she explains the story and characters to him. He appears genuinely invested in the episode.
She captioned the Instagram post: “made Imran Khan watch The Vampire Diaries, told him it’s basically Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.” In her caption, she also wrote, “I am sure he’s team Stefan? Idk? Forgot to ask. Imran Khan, it was so fun talking to you.” She added the Mere Brother Ki Dulhan title track to the video, which made the clip funnier for viewers who caught the connection.
Sehgal also shared selfies with the actor on her Instagram Stories.
How Is The Vampire Diaries Like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan?
The comparison sounds odd at first. One is a Bollywood romantic comedy. The other is an American supernatural drama about vampires. But the two share a very similar emotional setup.
In Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Kush (Imran Khan) is looking for a bride for his elder brother Luv (Ali Zafar). He finds Dimple (Katrina Kaif), but then Kush and Dimple fall for each other. Two brothers, one girl, and a love triangle that keeps shifting. In The Vampire Diaries, Stefan and Damon Salvatore are brothers who both fall in love with Elena Gilbert. One brother is calm and sensible. The other is chaotic and charming. The loyalty, jealousy, and messy feelings are the same in both stories.
There is another layer to the joke. Imran Khan played Luv in the 2011 film, which means Sehgal basically told him his own movie has a vampire cousin. The film was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar in his directorial debut. The Vampire Diaries premiered in 2009 and ran for eight seasons until 2017, building a massive young fanbase and the long-running Team Stefan versus Team Damon debate.
What Are Fans Saying About the Viral Video?
Social media users could not believe the crossover. One comment read, “Imran Khan watching TVD was not on my 2026 bingo card.” Another wrote, “How is this man becoming cooler day by day?” A user commented, “She just made him watch the OG Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.” Another said, “This is iconic.” One fan added, “He is so Stefan-coded.”
Netflix India left a comment that quickly became a highlight: “Girlie unlocked Netflix premium.” Several users called Sehgal lucky and “God’s favourite child” for getting to sit beside the actor and spend the flight talking to him about a show she loves.
