Cast and Story of Happy Anding
Kang Hoon leads the cast as Kang Tae Gu, the oldest member and leader of the comedy trio Asura. Tae Gu has held the group together for a decade, driven by his dream of becoming a comedian and his sense of duty to his teammates. He reaches a turning point when the reality of ten years without success becomes impossible to ignore.
Cho Hyun Chul plays Kim Nam Il, the group’s mood maker. Nam Il has been dating Lee Na Yeon, played by Moon Hee, for ten years. He is caught between the dream he has chased for so long and the love he does not want to lose.
Kim Jung Jin plays Han Jun Seo, the frugal member who handles the trio’s finances. Jun Seo is warm toward his teammates but finds it hard to open up to people outside the group.
Lee E Dam plays Go Eun Young, a reserved fan who has followed Asura for years. Her own life has collapsed after a major failure, and meeting the trio gives her a new direction. Yoon Ga Yi plays Go Ji Young, Eun Young’s younger sister. Lee Seo Hwan, known for Squid Game, appears as the trio’s former high school teacher.
The drama pairs the three comedians with three women. Kang Tae Gu connects with Go Eun Young. Kim Nam Il is with Lee Na Yeon. Han Jun Seo is matched with Go Ji Young. The story follows all six characters as they deal with work, love and the pressure to grow up.
“Happy Anding is a story about young people who have given everything to pursue their dreams as they set out to find another tomorrow. Please look forward to the growth journey of Kang Tae Gu, Kim Nam Il, and Han Jun Seo as they overcome their failures.” – The production team, in a statement shared with Soompi.
Why tvN Changed the Broadcast Schedule
tvN first announced Happy Anding as a Friday-Saturday drama set to premiere on November 6, 2026, at 10:30 p.m. KST. On October 20, 2026, the network confirmed a move to Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:50 p.m. KST, pushing the premiere to November 11.
The network described the shift as part of an internal programming strategy. The change moves the show away from the crowded weekend drama space and places it in a late-night weekday slot. tvN also released a new poster with the revised schedule. The poster shows the three Asura members standing side by side, looking toward a stage, with the line “To the reckless yet brilliant youth” printed across the image.
The schedule change added five days to the wait for the premiere. The episode count stayed at 12, and the final episode moved from December 12 to December 17.
Production and Remake Details
Happy Anding is produced by Studio Dragon, a subsidiary of CJ ENM. Jung Ji-hyun directs the series. Jung’s previous credits include Search: WWW (2019), Twenty-Five Twenty-One (2022) and Dear Hyeri (2024). Ahn Ah-reum, who wrote Once Again, pens the adaptation. Yang Hee-seung, known for Crash Course in Romance, serves as creator.
The series is a remake of Life’s Punchline, a 2021 Nippon TV drama about three young men in a comedy trio who decide to disband at age 28 after ten years of chasing stardom. The original show followed their quarter-life crisis and their connection with a burnt-out fan and her younger sister. Nippon TV announced in March 2026 that Studio Dragon had licensed the format for a Korean remake.
