Savannah Chrisley is speaking out after a week of major personal news that brought intense public criticism. The 29-year-old reality TV star and podcast host confirmed she secretly married Jason Galanis, 56, in July 2026, months before announcing her pregnancy and engagement. The revelation set off a wave of backlash, largely tied to Galanis’s criminal past and the couple’s 27-year age gap. On Saturday, October 31, 2026, Chrisley responded with a message centered on her faith and her decision not to fight every accusation.
Savannah Chrisley Addresses the Criticism Directly
Chrisley posted a lengthy message on her Instagram Stories on October 31, describing the days since her announcements as a “whirlwind” and saying the world can be “so incredibly cruel.” She tagged her location as the Mar-a-Lago Club, according to People.
“This world can be so incredibly cruel. People can be quick to judge, quick to condemn, and slow to show grace. But as I sit here looking out at God’s beautiful creation, I’m reminded of something so much greater than the noise around me.”
She continued with a message about not needing to defend her choices:
“I’ve learned that you don’t have to defend what God has already ordained. You don’t have to fight every battle, answer every accusation, or convince the world of what God already knows to be true.”
Chrisley then explained how she is choosing to handle the negative response:
“Sometimes the greatest act of faith is simply being still, choosing love when you’re met with hate, extending grace when none is given, and trusting that Jesus is working even in the moments that hurt the most.”
She closed the post with a direct statement about her current state of mind:
“My heart is full. My blessings are immeasurable. And my faith is stronger than any storm this world could ever bring. Because at the end of the day, hate will never have the final word. JESUS WILL. And LOVE ALWAYS WINS.”
Chrisley also included a Bible verse at the end of her post, writing, “Thank You, Jesus, for a peace this world cannot give and a love this world cannot take away”. The response came four days after she first shared her pregnancy and engagement news on October 27.
The Secret Wedding in the Cayman Islands
Marriage records obtained by People confirmed that Savannah Chrisley and Jason Galanis married on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Cayman Islands Baptist Church. The wedding took place just two days before Galanis’s birthday. The couple had been dating for about one year at the time of the ceremony.
The Cayman Islands holds significance for the couple. Galanis proposed to Chrisley there in December 2025, five months into their relationship, during an excursion to a secluded cay. He secretly transported the engagement ring via helicopter, according to Clarรญn. Chrisley first shared the proposal story on the October 27 episode of her podcast, Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley.
Chrisley had originally planned a larger wedding for January 9, 2027. She explained on her podcast that the date was pushed to May 2027 after the couple learned they were expecting a baby.
“Now, for Jason and I, our wedding was scheduled for Jan. 9 of 2027. And let me tell you, it was going to be a phenomenal time โ it still is going to be a phenomenal time. It has just been pushed a few months to May of 2027, and that is because we got the surprise of a lifetime.”
A larger celebration is still planned for May 2027, following the birth of their first child.
Who Is Jason Galanis
Jason Galanis, 56, is a former financier with a lengthy legal history. In September 2020, he was sentenced to 189 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge P. Kevin Castel in Manhattan federal court. He had pleaded guilty to multiple securities fraud schemes, including the Tribal Bond Scheme, which defrauded the Oglala Sioux Nation out of tens of millions of dollars, and the Gerova Financial Scheme, which manipulated company stock.
As part of his sentence, Galanis was ordered to forfeit $80.8 million and pay an additional $80.8 million in victim restitution. He served time at the same federal prison in Pensacola, Florida, as Chrisley’s father, Todd Chrisley, from January to August 2023.
President Donald Trump commuted Galanis’s sentence in March 2025, relieving him of the obligation to make additional payments to his fraud victims, according to Page Six. Galanis had also previously been a business associate of Hunter Biden and provided testimony to a Republican impeachment probe in 2024.
Chrisley has publicly defended Galanis and their relationship. On her podcast, she described their connection as the “dream relationship.”
“Our relationship as a whole has been absolutely amazing. It has been the dream relationship that any woman could hope to be in. There hasn’t been drama and chaos and dysfunction. There has been absolutely none of that.”
The 27-Year Age Gap and Family Reactions
Much of the public criticism has centered on the 27-year age difference between Chrisley and Galanis. Todd Chrisley, who is 57 and only one year older than Galanis, addressed the relationship on the October 29 episode of Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast. He admitted he did not initially support the match.
“He’s 20 years older, and it was not something I embraced because…I mean, to the point that I had a choice to make. It was either embrace my daughter’s decision or lose my daughter, and nothing is ever coming between me and my daughter.”
Todd also shared how Savannah responded to his concerns about the age gap:
“Savannah said to me, ‘Daddy, I’d rather have 20 amazing years, if that’s what I’d have, than 50 years of nothing.’”
Todd eventually came around. He told Bunnie Xo that Galanis “has treated her with the utmost respect” and that he would rather have his daughter’s happiness than anything else. He also addressed critics directly, saying he thinks “all of the haters that have commented about Savannah’s life are going to go back and start deleting” when more of her story comes out.
Chrisley herself has been direct about the age gap. On her podcast, she said:
“I have always said, ‘I would rather [have] 20 phenomenal, unbelievable years with someone than 50 just [fine] years.’”
She added that the age difference played a role in her decision to keep the relationship private: “Yes, there is a huge age gap there, okay?” She also said Galanis “doesn’t look his age, nor does he act his age” and described his mind as “even sharper” than his body.
Not everyone in Galanis’s family is supportive. His brother, Derek Galanis, spoke to Page Six and issued a blunt warning.
“He’s the same dude he always was. It’s his biggest con yet. This girl’s in for a rocky ride.”
Derek also pointed out the unusual overlap between his brother and Todd Chrisley: “My brother is one year younger than her father. They were in prison together, right? Both my brother and her father were pardoned by Trump. This is a continuation. It’s wild.”

Pregnancy and Engagement Announcement
Chrisley first shared her pregnancy and engagement news on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, during an episode of Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley and in a video posted to Instagram. At the time, she referred to her partner only as “J” or “Jason.” The identity of Galanis was confirmed by multiple outlets in the following days.
In her pregnancy announcement, Chrisley wrote about the difficult years that preceded this moment:
“I’ve prayed for this life. I’ve cried for this life. And there were moments I truly wondered if this life would ever be mine. The past few years have taken me through fires I never imagined I’d have to walk through. Seasons of heartbreak, loss, and moments when I didn’t know if I would ever make it to the other side. I wondered if I would ever find my foreverโฆ if I would ever feel safe enough to truly breathe again. And then God sent me J.”
She described Galanis as her “protector,” “fiercest fighter,” “most loyal person,” and “safe place.” She also shared how involved he has been during her pregnancy:
“J, watching the way you already love and protect our baby before he/she has even entered this world has made me fall in love with you in an entirely new way. Not a single doctor’s appointment missed. Constantly caring for me, talking about our baby, and reminding me how beautiful my growing bump is. I thank God every day that this baby gets to call you Daddy.”
Chrisley had previously spoken about Galanis on her podcast before his identity was public, calling him her “best friend” and saying, “It’s just such an amazing, fulfilling feeling to finally find your person”.
Chrisley’s parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, were pardoned by Trump in May 2025 after being convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion in 2022. Chrisley has spoken openly about how Galanis reached out to her after her parents’ sentences were commuted, and how their relationship began during that period.
The couple’s first child is expected before the May 2027 wedding celebration. Chrisley has not shared a specific due date publicly.
