BTS member Jin and Hollywood star Tom Cruise shared an unforgettable moment in a special episode of Jin’s YouTube show Run Jin. The episode, titled Run Jin EP.35 | Mission: Jinpossible, was released on May 20 on BANGTANTV. Fans were thrilled to see the two stars together, creating a buzz online.
In the video, Jin excitedly introduced Tom Cruise, playfully asking, “Do you know BTS?” Cruise responded warmly, saying he does, which made Jin cheerfully announce, “Guys, Tom Cruise knows us!” The Hollywood actor praised Jin and BTS, saying, “What BTS and Jin have achieved so far is truly amazing. I’m happy to be here with you.”
The episode also featured a heartwarming moment where Tom Cruise video-called Jin’s family during filming. Jin told his mother, “Tom Cruise is here. He wanted to video call you.” Cruise greeted them warmly, admired their food, and even spoke to Jin’s grandfather. Jin later asked his family to watch Cruise’s new movie, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.
Tom Cruise revealed that his team reached out first to appear on Run Jin. Jin confirmed this during an interview on Red Velvet Wendy’s radio show, Young Street. He said, “We didn’t reach out first—it was Tom Cruise’s team who said they wanted to appear.” Cruise also admitted he had watched previous episodes of Run Jin before filming.
The two stars bonded over their careers, teamwork, and food. Jin shared that the first movie he ever watched at 15 was Mission: Impossible. Cruise, who has visited Korea 12 times, praised Korean BBQ and samgyeopsal. Jin recommended the spicy Korean dish mulhwe, which Cruise tried by the end of the episode.
They also discussed Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, with Jin calling the stunts “mind-blowing.” Cruise revealed the film took seven years to make and included some of his toughest action scenes. He joked about their different definitions of safety, saying, “I like to be safe too—we just have different ideas of what that means.”
The episode ended with a surprise mission for Jin. After saying goodbye, he was given a secret task to complete in Yangpyeong-gun, mimicking a Mission: Impossible mission. Jin successfully finished the challenge, making the episode feel like a mini action movie.
