After years of waiting, the cast and crew of HBO’s Euphoria have finally completed filming the show’s long-awaited third season. Star Sydney Sweeney confirmed the major production milestone, bringing a long and often-delayed chapter of filming to a close. The final season is now moving into post-production and is scheduled to premiere in spring 2026.
Sweeney, who plays Cassie Howard, shared that she finished her work on the series at the start of November 2025. The actress described the feeling of wrapping the show as “super bittersweet,” highlighting the close bonds formed over years of work. The production spanned roughly nine months, having started back in February 2025.
Sydney Sweeney Shares Emotional Goodbye to the Series
For Sydney Sweeney, saying goodbye to Euphoria is an emotional end to a defining period of her life. The actress was only 20 years old when she filmed the pilot episode and has grown up alongside her character and the show’s crew. She has spoken openly about the difficulty of leaving this chapter behind.
โItโs gonna be a really bittersweet moment,โ Sweeney said about finishing the season. โIโm kind of terrified for how emotional itโs gonna be. Itโs been such a journey. Itโs been my entire 20s. Theyโve been my family and friends for so long.โ
The sentiment was echoed in other interviews, where Sweeney compared returning to the set to “going home” because of the longstanding relationships with the crew. She predicted she would be “bawling [her] eyes out” on her final days of filming. Her last two days on set were scheduled for late October 2025.
What to Expect From Cassie Howard’s Final Story
While Sweeney has remained mostly tight-lipped on plot details, she has dropped a few cryptic hints about her character’s direction in the final season. When asked for a one-word teaser, her answer was “self-discovery”. This suggests Cassie will continue her complex journey of identity and growth.
In a more playful and explicit moment, Sweeney used another single word to describe what fans can expect: “Dildos”. She followed this by saying, “I mean, it’s Cassie. What do you expect?” hinting that her character’s chaotic and provocative nature will remain intact. These teases align with Sweeney’s past description of the new season as “unhinged”.
Major leaks from the set in April 2025 added a significant new layer to the speculation. Photos showed Sweeney’s Cassie in a white wedding dress, walking on a carpet monogrammed with “C&N”. This has led to widespread fan theories that Cassie may become engaged to or marry Jacob Elordi‘s character, Nate Jacobs. HBO has not confirmed these rumors.
A Long Road Back to East Highland High
The path to Euphoria Season 3 has been unusually rocky, marked by multiple significant delays. The show was officially renewed in February 2022, shortly after the second season finale aired. However, production was stalled by a combination of the Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes, the busy schedules of its now A-list cast, and tragic real-life events.
The show and its fans suffered two heartbreaking losses. Actor Angus Cloud, who played the beloved drug dealer Fezco, died in July 2023. Executive producer Kevin Turen also passed away. Their deaths cast a shadow over the production and left questions about how the show would move forward.
There were even false reports in late 2024 that the season had been canceled entirely. HBO and Max CEO Casey Bloys forcefully denied these rumors, confirming the show had a start date and that scripts were ready. Filming finally commenced in Los Angeles in February 2025, setting the stage for the recent wrap.
A Time Jump and a New “Film Noir” Vibe
Season 3 will introduce a major change by featuring a time jump, moving the characters out of their high school setting. Sydney Sweeney noted it would be “weird” if the characters were still in high school, confirming the narrative will advance in time.
Series creator Sam Levinson has described his vision for this chapter as a “film noir”. He suggested the story will “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world”. Star and executive producer Zendaya expressed excitement about exploring her character Rue outside of the high school environment and deeper into her sobriety journey.
Co-star Jacob Elordi, who returns as Nate Jacobs, has teased that the new season is “incredibly clever and cinematic”. He added that the storylines are so compartmentalized that he, as an actor, doesn’t know what happens in other characters’ plots, meaning he will get to watch the final product as a fan.

Returning Favorites and Major New Cast Members
The core cast from the first two seasons is set to return. This includes Zendaya as Rue Bennett, Hunter Schafer as Jules, Jacob Elordi as Nate, Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs, Alexa Demie as Maddy, and Maude Apatow as Lexi. Colman Domingo will return as a guest star.
Two actors have been promoted to series regulars: Martha Kelly, who plays the intimidating drug dealer Laurie, and Chloe Cherry, who plays Faye. They are joined by a long list of new series regulars and guest stars, making this the most star-studded season yet.
The new cast includes Grammy-winning singer Rosalรญa, former NFL star Marshawn Lynch, and established actors like Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, Sharon Stone, and Eli Roth. Levinson praised Rosalรญa’s natural instincts, stating, “I love unleashing her on a scene”.
Not every familiar face will be back. Barbie Ferreira (Kat) and Austin Abrams (Ethan) announced their departures after Season 2. Storm Reid, who played Rue’s younger sister Gia, also confirmed she will not return for the third season. The story of Angus Cloud’s character, Fezco, will need to be addressed following the actor’s passing.
When Will Euphoria Season 3 Premiere?
With filming now complete, the focus shifts to post-production. The official premiere window is spring 2026. This will mark over four years since Season 2 concluded in February 2022.
The season is confirmed to consist of eight episodes. While HBO has hinted this may be the final season, the network has not made an official announcement. When asked about the show’s future, Sydney Sweeney herself said, “You never know”.
