Fans have their first official look at Godzilla in the upcoming second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. A new promotional video on Apple TV+ gives a brief but clear view of the iconic monster, confirming his role in the next chapter of the MonsterVerse series. The series will return for a ten-episode season starting February 27, 2026.
The new footage is part of a larger Apple TV+ preview for its 2026 lineup. Subscribers who start any Apple TV+ original show can see the promo, which includes a moving shot of Godzilla. The short clip shows Godzilla emerging from the water during a storm, creating a dramatic and atmospheric scene. This first look arrives after a previously released teaser focused heavily on Kong, the other major Titan in the season.
Season 2 Story and New Cast Member
The new season continues the story of the secretive Monarch organization. The official description states the plot picks up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance. Buried secrets will be revealed, reuniting heroes and villains on Kong’s Skull Island and in a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea.
The ripple effects of past events will blur the lines between family, friends, and foes, all while a major “titan event” looms on the horizon. While Godzilla appears, reports suggest the story will focus more on Kong and the mysteries of Skull Island.
The main cast from the first season is returning, including Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett, and Anders Holm. They will be joined by a new face: Amber Midthunder, known for her role in Prey, has joined the cast for the second season.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is a key part of Legendary Entertainment’s growing MonsterVerse. This interconnected world includes films like Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, as well as the animated Netflix series Skull Island.
The MonsterVerse continues to expand. A new theatrical film, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, is scheduled for release on March 26, 2027. Furthermore, Apple TV+ has plans for additional MonsterVerse series. One reported project is a prequel series set during the Cold War, focusing on a younger version of Wyatt Russell’s character, Lee Shaw.
The series is executive produced by Chris Black, who also serves as the showrunner, along with Matt Fraction, Joby Harold, and Tory Tunnell. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita executive produce on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd., the company that owns the Godzilla character.
