On November 13, girl group NewJeans sent a certified letter to their agency, ADOR, highlighting multiple failures by the agency to fulfill obligations outlined in their exclusive contracts. The group requested immediate action to address these issues, which they claim constitute breaches of their agreement.
The following day, Channel A disclosed the content of the legal notice sent to ADOR’s CEO Kim Joo Young, outlining the group’s specific grievances.
Key Requests Made by NewJeans
The certified letter included several requests demanding ADOR take responsibility for addressing internal and external issues affecting NewJeans’ career. The requests are as follows:
- “We request that as the agency responsible for the management of NewJeans, ADOR take appropriate measures to address HYBE’s internal decision to ‘dispose of NewJeans and create a new playing field.’”
- “We request that measures be taken against the manager of a subsidiary label who ordered their artist to ‘ignore’ Hanni.”
- “We request that measures be taken to correct the HYBE PR team’s attempts to undervalue the achievements of NewJeans.”
- “We request the monitoring and removal of unofficial photos, videos, and other content involving the NewJeans members during their trainee days and as minors.”
- “We request that ADOR address the devaluation of NewJeans’ achievements caused by the controversy surrounding HYBE’s ‘advanced purchase’ tactics.”
- “We request the prompt resolution of any unnecessary disputes with director Shin Woo Seok of Dolphiners Films and the prevention of any official NewJeans content from removal on approved channels.”

The legal notice concluded with the NewJeans members voicing their dissatisfaction with ADOR’s handling of their concerns:
“We have already lost much faith in ADOR, and that should the agency fail to [address] all of the requests made above within 14 days of the letter’s receipt, we would seek to terminate our exclusive contracts.”
This marks a critical moment in the relationship between NewJeans and ADOR, as the group insists on swift action to prevent further escalation.
