The worlds of sports and anime are colliding in a big way. Nike has officially announced a new collaboration with the global manga and anime phenomenon One Piece. This partnership turns three of the series’ most famous Devil Fruits into real-world sneakers. The collection features three unique Nike Air Max Plus designs, along with a full line of apparel.
The collaboration is set to launch globally on September 25, 2026, but fans in select cities will get early access through pop-up events and retail experiences starting as early as September 4.
Three Iconic Devil Fruits Become Three Unique Sneakers
The centerpiece of the Nike x One Piece collection is three special versions of the Air Max Plus. Each sneaker takes its design inspiration from a different Devil Fruit from the series. Nike did not just change the colors. The company completely rebuilt the upper part of each shoe to match the look and feel of each fruit’s powers.
The three sneakers represent the following Devil Fruits:
Gomu Gomu no Mi (Rubber-Rubber Fruit) – This is the fruit eaten by the series’ main character, Monkey D. Luffy. The sneaker features a purple and neon green color scheme. It is designed to reflect Luffy’s rubber-based abilities. The shoe’s upper has a stretched, bouncy look that connects to the fruit’s power.
Mera Mera no Mi (Flame-Flame Fruit) – This fruit was originally eaten by Portgas D. Ace, Luffy’s older brother. The sneaker uses a bright orange and red gradient. The colors mirror the fire-controlling powers that come with this fruit. The design has a molten, blazing appearance that stands out.
Ope Ope no Mi (Op-Op Fruit) – This fruit belongs to Trafalgar Law, a popular character and ally of Luffy. The sneaker comes in a red and green colorway. The design is tied to Law’s ability to create a “ROOM” where he can control anything inside. The look is slightly darker and more precise compared to the other two pairs.
Special Design Details on Every Pair
Nike put extra effort into making these sneakers special for fans. Each shoe features a completely retooled upper with TPU texturing that is exclusive to this collaboration. This means the shoes do not just look different. They also have a different texture and feel depending on which fruit they are based on.
All three sneakers also include a special Nike-branded Jolly Roger emblem on the tongue. The Jolly Roger is the skull and crossbones symbol used by pirates in the One Piece world. This detail connects the Nike brand directly to the pirate theme of the series.
Full Apparel Collection Complements the Sneakers
The collaboration goes beyond footwear. Nike is releasing a full line of clothing and accessories to go with the sneakers. The apparel collection includes:
- Jerseys – Matching jerseys for each Devil Fruit theme are available. These are priced at around ¥14,300 (about $90).
- T-shirts – The shirts feature panels from the manga. Some designs show the Jolly Roger drawn by Luffy himself. Others feature Gear 5 artwork. The shirts range from ¥6,930 ($44) to ¥9,680 ($60).
- Caps – Matching hats are priced at $34 each.
- Vest – There is also a special vest. Its design references a key detail from the series: anyone who eats a Devil Fruit becomes “hated by the sea” and loses the ability to swim. The vest is priced at $284.
The apparel mixes One Piece artwork with classic Nike advertising styles. Some shirts recreate old Nike ads using manga-style illustrations.

The release schedule for the Nike x One Piece collection is spread across multiple dates and locations. Fans have several chances to get their hands on these items.

Pricing Details and Availability
The pricing for the sneakers has been a topic of discussion. Most sources report the retail price as $180 per pair. However, some newer reports suggest the price could be $210 per pair. Nike has not confirmed a single final price for all regions yet. Fans should check the SNKRS app or authorized retailers for the most accurate price in their area.
The availability of each sneaker varies by region.
The Gomu Gomu no Mi sneaker will have the widest release. It will be available through SNKRS pre-orders in the United States, Japan, and select European countries on September 25. It will also have standard releases in China, Mexico, and Australia.
The Mera Mera no Mi sneaker is the most exclusive. It will only release through select retailers in Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Mexico starting September 12.
The Ope Ope no Mi sneaker will skip the SNKRS app entirely. It will release through pop-up events and select retailers in the United States and Europe on September 19.
Fan Excitement Builds for the Collaboration
The announcement has generated a lot of buzz among both sneaker collectors and One Piece fans. Social media platforms have been filled with reactions since Nike officially revealed the collection.
The design team’s attention to detail has impressed many. One fan wrote on social media, “Whoever thought of this idea deserves a raise”. Others have praised the decision to rebuild the shoe’s upper instead of just using different colors.
“We were inspired by the superhuman abilities that are unleashed when One Piece characters eat the Devil Fruits, much like the feeling an athlete has when they put on a pair of Nikes.” – Nick Remlinger, GM of Energy Gaming at Nike
Nike’s Nick Remlinger explained that the team wanted to capture the same rush an anime character feels when unlocking a Devil Fruit power. They compared that feeling to an athlete putting on a fresh pair of Nikes.
