Netflix’s live-action One Piece series is getting ready for its biggest adventure yet. The show has added four new actors to its Season 3 cast as the story moves into the desert kingdom of Alabasta. The new season, officially called One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta, will see the Straw Hat Pirates face one of their toughest challenges yet.
The casting news came during the One Piece Day stage show in Tokyo, Japan. The official Netflix Anime account shared the updates on social media on August 23, 2026. Fans have been waiting for these announcements, and the new additions complete some of the most important roles in the Alabasta storyline.
Four New Actors Join the One Piece Season 3 Cast
Emilio Sakraya will play Koza, a key character in the Alabasta arc. Sakraya is known for his work in Rheingold, Those About to Die, and Fortitude. Koza is the leader of the rebel army fighting against the kingdom’s ruler. His character plays a major part in the civil war storyline.
Omid Abtahi joins as Toto, Koza’s father. Abtahi has appeared in popular shows like The Mandalorian and American Gods. Toto is a respected figure in Alabasta who cares deeply about his son and his country.
Jamie Ward takes on the role of Pell, the loyal guardian of the Alabasta royal family. Ward has been in The Gentlemen and His Dark Materials. Pell is known for his unwavering dedication to protecting Princess Vivi and her father.
Nabeel Khan will play Chaka, another royal guard who serves alongside Pell. Khan has appeared in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and Strike Back. Chaka is a skilled fighter who helps defend the kingdom from threats.
These four actors will have recurring guest roles in the upcoming season.
The Straw Hat Crew Returns in Full Force
All the main cast members are coming back for Season 3. Iñaki Godoy returns as Monkey D. Luffy, the determined captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. Mackenyu is back as Roronoa Zoro, the swordsman with a three-sword style. Emily Rudd reprises her role as Nami, the crew’s navigator. Jacob Romero returns as Usopp, the sniper and storyteller. Taz Skylar is back as Sanji, the cook with a powerful kick.
Several other important characters are also returning. Charithra Chandran will be back as Miss Wednesday, who is actually Princess Vivi in disguise. Mikaela Hoover returns as Chopper, the reindeer doctor. Joe Manganiello is back as Mr. 0, also known as Sir Crocodile. Lera Abova returns as Miss All Sunday, also known as Nico Robin. Sendhil Ramamurthy will reprise his role as Nefertari Cobra, the king of Alabasta.
Other New Faces Joining the Season
The four new cast members join a list of previously announced additions. Cole Escola will play Bon Clay, a memorable character from the Baroque Works organization. Xolo Maridueña takes on the role of Portgas D. Ace, Luffy’s older brother. Daisy Head joins as Miss Doublefinger, a Baroque Works agent. Newcomer Awdo Awdo will play Mr. 1, one of the top fighters in the organization.
The Alabasta Storyline Explained
The third season picks up after the events of Season 2. Luffy and his crew have entered the Grand Line, the most dangerous stretch of ocean in the world. Their journey takes them to Alabasta, a desert kingdom facing a terrible crisis.
A rebellion is growing in Alabasta. The people are rising up against their king, but the conflict is not what it seems. The rebellion is being secretly fueled by one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the ruthless Sir Crocodile. Crocodile and his criminal organization, Baroque Works, want to take over the kingdom for themselves.
The Straw Hats must find a way to stop the civil war and defeat Crocodile before Alabasta falls apart. Princess Vivi, who has been traveling with the crew, is desperate to save her homeland. The season will test the bonds between the crew members as they face impossible choices.
Netflix describes the season as one defined by “unbreakable bonds and impossible choices”. The Straw Hats must face a brewing civil war and a powerful warlord to save Vivi’s kingdom before it crumbles into the sand.
Production Wraps in South Africa
Filming for One Piece Season 3 has already finished. Production took place in Cape Town, South Africa, where the previous seasons were also shot. The show started filming in November 2025 under the working title “Project Arcadia”. The production wrapped up in June 2026.
Netflix shared the news on social media with a post that said, “That’s a wrap on One Piece season 3,” along with a cast photo taken on set in front of a mural of Sir Crocodile.
The show is created in partnership with Shueisha, the publisher of the original One Piece manga. Tomorrow Studios and Netflix produce the series. Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes serve as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers for the season.
The executive producers include the manga’s creator Eiichiro Oda, along with Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Steven Maeda.
