Production has started in Malta on Prime Video’s upcoming action-comedy series Danger Money. The streaming service has brought in a group of well-known British actors to join Ray Winstone in the lead role.
Alex Kingston (Doctor Who, A Discovery of Witches), Iain Glen (Game of Thrones, Jack Taylor), and Sean Pertwee (Gotham, The Siege) are among seven new cast members joining the series. The show comes from Two Brothers Pictures, the production company behind Fleabag and The Tourist.
Seven New Actors Join Ray Winstone in the Series
The new cast additions include Mimi Keene (Sex Education), Arian Nik (Count Abdulla), Kara Tointon (The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping), and Oliver Maltman (Red Eye), who also serves as co-creator and co-writer.
Kingston, Glen, Nik, and Keene will star alongside Winstone in the six-part series. Pertwee, Tointon, and Maltman round out the main cast.
Filming is now taking place on location in Malta. The series is produced by Two Brothers Pictures in association with All3Media International, with Banijay Rights handling global distribution.
What Danger Money Is About
Winstone plays Alan ‘Razor’ Sharp, a former SAS operative whose life fell apart after a failed mission in the 1990s. The operation destroyed his reputation and left his best friend dead. Years later, still carrying guilt and trying to fix his relationship with his daughter, Razor gets pulled back into the world he left behind.
An old friend, played by Pertwee, shows up with a job that Razor cannot refuse. He travels to Italy, but things go wrong quickly. Razor ends up on the run with a group that includes his impulsive nephew Jamaal (Nik) and a secretive woman named Roxy (Kingston).
They get caught up in a violent conspiracy involving hidden war spoils, corrupt institutions, and powerful enemies who want to keep the past hidden. To clear his name, Razor must face the truth about the mission that destroyed his life.
Kara Tointon plays Maggie, Razor’s daughter on screen. Maltman plays her partner Gavin. Keene takes on the role of the mysterious Ana. Glen plays a friend from Razor’s younger days.
What the Cast and Creators Are Saying
Kingston shared her thoughts on her character Roxy:
“Roxy is a character who keeps you guessing. She swings from intelligent and professional determination on the surface to emotional complexity beneath. The adventure she finds herself on leads her to a greater, empathetic understanding of the human condition. The scripts balance action, humour and heart brilliantly, and getting to play opposite such an exceptional cast is really exciting.”
Nik also expressed his excitement:
“I’m buzzing to be joining this production. The scripts are hilarious, full of twists and a lot of heart. Ray and Alex are both legends in their own right and it’s an absolute honour to be sharing this journey with them.”
Winstone previously talked about the series when it was first announced. He said the character is “a bit of a scrapper, surly and getting on a bit,” but added that beneath the action and comedy, there is “a lot of heart, soul and depth” to the script.
The creators, David Crow and Maltman, called the show a new kind of hero story. They described Razor Sharp as an unforgettable character whose Special Forces training and sense of justice are sometimes held back by his rising blood pressure and back problems.
Who Is Making the Show
Crow and Maltman created the series and serve as executive producers. They are writing episodes 1, 2, and 6. Iain Hollands is writing episodes 3 and 4 and also serves as a co-executive producer. Ryan O’Sullivan and Matilda Wnek are writing episode 5.
Carl Tibbetts is directing episodes 1 through 3, with Charles Martin directing episodes 4 through 6. Harry Williams, Jack Williams, Sarah Hammond, Alex Mercer, and Katie Churchill are also executive producers for Two Brothers. The producer is Mick Pantaleo, and Aisha Bywaters serves as casting director. Halo Pictures, with support from the Maltese Film Commission, is the service company in Malta.

When and Where to Watch Danger Money
Danger Money will be available on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland. The series will have six episodes, each running 60 minutes.
Prime Video has not yet announced a release date. The series is currently in production in Malta.
