The new anime series Rich Girl Caretaker: I’m Secretly the Caregiver of the Most Popular Girl in This Rich Kid School has quickly gained attention since its July 2026 premiere. The romantic comedy anime, produced by studio Brain’s Base, adapts the popular light novel series by Yusaku Sakaishi. Story So Far: Episodes 1 and 2 Recap
Episode 1: A Sudden Change
The series introduces Itsuki Tomonari, a normal high school student whose life changes when he gets caught in a kidnapping incident involving Hinako Konohana. Hinako belongs to one of Japan’s largest business conglomerates.
On the surface, Hinako appears as the perfect young lady. She seems graceful, elegant, and flawless. But behind closed doors, she cannot handle basic chores or daily tasks. After the kidnapping, Itsuki becomes her secret caretaker. He transfers to the elite Kiou Academy, a school filled with children from wealthy families.
Episode 2: First Day as Caretaker
Episode 2, titled “Premier jour de gardien” (First Day of Guardian), aired on July 12, 2026. Itsuki begins his role as Hinako’s caretaker at the prestigious school. He must balance his normal student life while secretly managing Hinako’s needs. The episode shows Itsuki struggling to fit in among the elite students while keeping his new job hidden.
What to Expect in Episode 3
Episode 3 continues the story as Itsuki grows more comfortable with his caretaker duties and life at Kiko Academy. His old acquaintance Naruka approaches him for help with making friends.
The episode explores Itsuki’s developing relationship with Hinako. Their bond grows beyond a simple caregiver and client dynamic. The series maintains its romantic comedy tone while showing how two people from very different backgrounds learn to understand each other.
The anime features a talented voice cast including Yuto Uemura as Itsuki Tomonari and Konomi Kohara as Hinako Konohana. Other cast members include Saori Onishi, Rio Tsuchiya, Ami Koshimizu, and Takehito Koyasu.
Production Team
Shusei Morishita directs the anime at studio Brain’s Base. Aya Yoshinaga writes the series scripts, and Nao Kawashima designs the characters. The music comes from composers Natsumi Tabuchi, Hanae Nakamura, and Mayo Kurihara.
Angela performs the opening theme song “Sai Sai Saikōkyū no Osewa Shite (Top Top Top Grade Caretaking)”. Ami Maeshima sings the ending theme “Kanpeki Janai Watashi (Imperfect Me)”.

Rich Girl Caretaker started as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro in April 2020. Hobby Japan published the light novel series under their HJ Bunko imprint starting in May 2021. A manga adaptation by Sorahiko Mizushima began serialization on Comic Fire in July 2021.
The English light novel release began on March 3, 2026, through Monogatari Novels.
