Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar has shared a personal and emotional reaction to watching Suriya and Mamitha Baiju‘s family drama Vishwanath & Sons. The Jailer 2 actor revealed that the film’s story stayed with him long after the credits rolled, reminding him of his own parents and family. His comments have added a new layer of attention to the Venky Atluri directorial, which is now streaming on Netflix after a strong theatrical run.
Shiva Rajkumar’s Emotional Reaction
Shiva Rajkumar opened up about his experience watching the film in a recent social media post, as cited by multiple entertainment outlets. The actor said the film’s family-centric themes brought back memories of his late parents, legendary actor Dr. Rajkumar and producer Parvathamma Rajkumar.
“I watched Vishwanath And Sons recently. When I saw the film, I couldn’t sleep for an hour. It reminded me of my parents and my family. I was lying there, thinking about it, and I was in tears,” Shiva Rajkumar said.
The Kannada star also expressed a wish to take up a similar story in the future. “I think some emotions… I also wish to do a film like that someday,” he added. His reaction highlights the film’s focus on family bonds, parenthood, and emotional responsibilities.
What Vishwanath & Sons Is About
Written and directed by Venky Atluri, Vishwanath & Sons follows Sanjay Vishwanath (Suriya), a successful athlete and businessman whose carefully planned life changes after he meets Madhi (Mamitha Baiju). The story deals with family expectations, an age-gap relationship, and the responsibilities of parenthood.
The film stars Radikaa Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon in important roles. G. V. Prakash Kumar composed the music, with Nimish Ravi as the cinematographer, Navin Nooli as the editor, and Banglan as the production designer.
Theatrical Release and Box Office Performance
Vishwanath & Sons arrived in theatres worldwide on August 14, 2026. The film opened strong during the Independence Day weekend and recorded a global opening day gross of ₹31.50 crore. Makers announced that the film crossed the ₹260 crore mark worldwide within 25 days, making it Suriya’s second film of 2026 to achieve this feat after Karuppu.
Final trade reports, however, placed the film’s worldwide theatrical gross at approximately ₹205 crore after its full run. The territorial breakdown included ₹55 crore from Tamil Nadu, ₹58.50 crore from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, ₹16.75 crore from Karnataka, and ₹8.25 crore from Kerala. Overseas markets contributed around ₹65 crore (USD 6.85 million).
