Two popular Korean dramas achieved their best viewership numbers on the same night. tvN’s Spooky in Love ended its run with its highest ratings ever, while KBS 2TV’s Love on the Menu also set a new personal record.
On August 23, Spooky in Love aired its final episode. According to Nielsen Korea, the episode scored an average nationwide rating of 7.9 percent. This made it the most-watched cable show of any kind on Sunday. The drama’s rating jumped significantly from the previous episode, which had recorded 5.5 percent. The finale also marked the sixth consecutive week that the show ranked first in its time slot across cable and general programming channels.
Love on the Menu also had a big night. The romance drama reached a nationwide average of 16.4 percent, its highest rating to date. The show was the most-watched program of Sunday overall. This was a rise from its previous episode’s rating of 14.9 percent.
Spooky in Love Finale Delivers Happy Ending
Park Eun-bin and Yang Se-jong star in Spooky in Love. The drama follows a woman who can see ghosts and a man who does not believe in them. The final episode resolved the show’s main mysteries.
The finale revealed the truth behind a yacht accident from 12 years ago. Cheon Yeo-ri (Park Eun-bin) broke free from a curse that had troubled her for a long time. She had been in a coma after a car accident. With help from spirits she had helped before, including her old friend Kang Ji-hwan (Kim Min-cheol), she returned from the brink of death.
After breaking the curse, Yeo-ri could no longer see ghosts. She could also touch others without any side effects. She and her fiancé Ma Gang-uk (Yang Se-jong) held hands and looked forward to their future together.
Meanwhile, Kang Min-hwan (Ong Seong-wu) faced a terrible end. All his wrongdoings were exposed. He had been consumed by his feelings of being an adopted child. His mother, Song Hee-won (Kim Seo-ra), told him she had always considered him family. He finally showed true regret for his actions.
The drama is based on a 2011 film of the same name. It gained attention for its different story development and strong acting performances.

Love on the Menu stars Ha Seok-jin and Ahn Hee-yeon (also known as Hani from EXID). The KBS 2TV drama has been gaining viewers each week.
The show’s latest episode, episode 10, reached 16.4 percent. This continues a pattern of the show breaking its own records. Earlier in August, the drama had already reached 14.1 percent and then 15.7 percent.
The episode delivered emotional moments for the lead characters. Hani plays Han Gyu Rim, a woman with unresolved feelings for Kim Moo Jin, played by Ha Seok-jin. During the episode, she admitted while drunk, “I miss Kim Moo Jin”. Later, she tearfully told him, “I remembered what I lost”. These emotional scenes became some of the biggest moments of the episode.
Strong Global Performance for Both Dramas
Spooky in Love also performed well internationally. The drama reached third place in Netflix’s Global Top 10 for non-English shows. It stayed in the top 10 for five weeks in a row. The show also ranked high in TV drama topicality and cast member topicality charts. Related video content for the drama surpassed 570 million views.
Love on the Menu continues to be a Sunday favorite in South Korea. Its ratings have consistently grown since its premiere in July.
Both dramas have shown strong performance in a competitive weekend time slot. Spooky in Love now joins the list of successful tvN weekend dramas. Love on the Menu remains one of KBS’s top-rated shows.
