The newly released photos show Baek Ho Rang (Kim Young Kwang) and Na Bo Bae (Chae Soo Bin) in a series of romantic settings. One image shows Ho Rang lifting Bo Bae into his arms with ease. Another captures the pair celebrating a birthday party together in a decorated room. A third still shows them at a theme park, enjoying a date that fulfills their romantic wishes.

What The New Stills Show

The stills focus on the close physical contact between the two characters. The story’s central idea is that Ho Rang’s artificial heart battery loses power when he is away from Bo Bae and recharges when she is near him. The closer they get, the more his heart charges.

Director Park Soo Won spoke about what makes the pair’s relationship stand out.

“The key highlight is the emotional journey of Baek Ho Rang and Na Bo Bae as they go through an intense period of denying their feelings for one another.”

The director also explained the core idea behind their unusual connection.

“The core concept is their unique relationship, in which Baek Ho Rang loses power when they are apart and recharges when they are together.”

Park added that despite being a third-generation chaebol heir, Ho Rang must become the “subordinate” when it comes to recharging, which will be a fun part of the drama.

The Story Behind The Show

Take Charge of My Heart is based on a Naver web novel called Charge Me Up by Haebeon. The story follows Baek Ho Rang, a third-generation chaebol heir who serves as executive director at TS Resort. Behind his perfect life, Ho Rang depends on an artificial heart that needs a power source to keep working.

Na Bo Bae is a drama writer who gained electrical powers after being struck by lightning as a child. Her touch can shock other people, which has made her live a mostly isolated life. When she meets Ho Rang, she discovers that her electricity does not affect him. The two make a deal: Ho Rang needs Bo Bae to help keep his artificial heart charged, and Bo Bae wants real-life romantic experiences to help her write a romance screenplay before her contract ends.

The teaser trailer shows the two sharing an accidental kiss, after which Bo Bae realizes her electricity does not affect Ho Rang. She thinks she has found her “human rubber glove” and tries to talk to him, but Ho Rang runs away. They meet again at a hospital, where a blackout during a storm drains Ho Rang’s new battery. His heart only recharges when Bo Bae is near him. Ho Rang offers Bo Bae a deal: she charges him through touch, and in return, he fulfills her “romance bucket list”.

About The Cast And Production

Kim Young Kwang plays Baek Ho Rang. The actor has appeared in Trigger, Somebody, and On Your Wedding Day. Kim shared that reading the script gave him the same excitement he felt reading romance comics as a child, and he wanted to ground his performance in authenticity.
