Apple TV+ dropped the first official trailer for Ted Lasso Season 4 on April 28, confirming that the beloved soccer comedy will return on August 5, 2026. The new season arrives more than three years after the Season 3 finale in March 2023, ending a long wait for fans of the Emmy-winning show.

The 10-episode season will release weekly every Wednesday, with the finale scheduled for October 7, 2026. Viewers around the world can watch on Apple TV+, with episodes dropping at midnight Pacific Time. For audiences in the UK, that means 8:00 AM GMT; in India, episodes arrive at 12:30 PM IST; Australia viewers get them at 6:00 PM AEST; and Canada follows the same release window as the US.

Ted Returns To Richmond With A New Challenge

The trailer shows Jason Sudeikis back as the mustached American coach, but this time he is not leading the men’s AFC Richmond squad. Season 4 follows Ted as he coaches a second division women’s football team. The official logline explains: “Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”

At the end of Season 3, Ted went back to America to coach his son’s team. Now he returns to London for what the show calls his “biggest challenge yet.” The teaser shows Ted getting a rough welcome from fans who yell at him for “coaching a bunch of girls.”

The trailer uses “Rubber Band Man” by Mumford & Sons and Hozier as the background music. It gives quick looks at both returning faces and new players joining the show.

A fan on X shared cautious optimism: “Bringing Ted back already feels risky, but shifting him to a women’s team might be the fresh angle that actually justifies it. If they keep the heart and don’t force the magic, this could work.”

Another viewer wrote: “Im kind of happy for this. It was such a relaxing show to watch despite its flaws. Just feels good. I’m excited. Helps me take my mind off all the shit in the world.”

On Reddit, one fan pointed out the cultural importance of the new direction: “A season drawing attention to women’s sports is good for the cultural zeitgeist! It has potential to be more than just ‘more Ted Lasso.’ I’m hopeful they do it right.”

Not everyone is fully on board. Some worry that adding a fourth season could hurt the show’s legacy. The Yahoo entertainment team shared their concerns, with one writer saying: “The fear remains that something amazing and beautiful will now have a closing chapter that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.”

What To Expect From The New Season

The show’s creative team includes many returning writers and producers. Jack Burditt joined as an executive producer under his deal with Apple TV. Brett Goldstein and Leanne Bowen serve as writers and executive producers. Sarah Walker and Phoebe Walsh are writers and producers for Season 4.

The series was created by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly. It started as a character from NBC Sports’ Premier League coverage before becoming one of Apple TV+’s biggest hits.

The show has won 13 Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes during its run. Season 4 marks the first new episodes since the show’s future was uncertain following Season 3. Apple officially ordered a fourth season in March 2025 after months of speculation.

Production took place in Kansas City and London. The new season focuses on the women’s team, a storyline that was teased at the end of Season 3 when Keeley and Rebecca discussed starting a women’s squad.
