The latest episode of Prime Videoโ€˜s hit series sees Paul Reiserโ€™s The Legend return, the deadly search for Bombsight reaches its peak, and Homelander becomes stronger than ever before.

The race for V1 has officially ended in The Boys Season 5 Episode 6, titled โ€œThough the Heavens Fall.โ€ And the result changes everything for the final two episodes of the showโ€™s last season.

Episode 6 dropped on Prime Video on May 6, 2026, at 12 a.m. PT/3 a.m. ET. For viewers in the UK, that meant an 8 a.m. release time, while fans in India could watch at 12:30 p.m. IST. The episode arrived right on schedule as part of the weekly release pattern that runs through the series finale on May 20, 2026.

The Legend Returns After Two Seasons Away

Paul Reiser made his long-awaited return as The Legend in Episode 6. The character, who last appeared in Season 3, is a former Senior VP of Hero Management at Vought who later became an informant for the Boys. His comeback gave the team the break they needed to track down Bombsight (Mason Dye) , one of the first successful Vought test subjects alongside Soldier Boy.

The Legend had been hiding under the fake name Chet Vanderbilt, working at a Vought-owned theater chain. He was genuinely shocked to learn that V1, an immortality serum, was still in circulation. Vought had publicly claimed all of it was destroyed years ago.

โ€œThe Legend and Homelander conversation was a Top 5 moment in the show.โ€ โ€“ Fan reaction on X

Reiserโ€™s character also has a complicated history with Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) . During a failed operation years ago, The Legend lost his left leg at the hands of a supe named Electroshock. He blamed Butcher for what happened, which explains his hesitation to help the Boys in this episode.

The Hunt for Bombsight and Golden Geisha

The Boys tracked down Bombsight through his former love interest, Golden Geisha (Naoko Mori) , who was living in a retirement community for older supes called Vought Villages. She had refused to take V1, choosing to age naturally instead of watching everyone she loves die while she lived forever.

At Vought Villages, the episode showed retired supes from past decades, including references to racist tropes from older eras of American entertainment. Motherโ€™s Milk (Laz Alonso) had to deal with uncomfortable moments as the team navigated this bizarre community of aging heroes.

Meanwhile, Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) tried to turn Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) against Homelander by showing him a video of Stormfront (Aya Cash) , the Nazi supe who had relationships with both men. Sage believed that reminding Soldier Boy of his hatred for Homelander would keep him from giving the V1 to his son.

Soldier Boyโ€™s Shocking Decision

The episodeโ€™s biggest twist came when Soldier Boy, who had every reason to hate Homelander, handed over the V1 serum himself. He did it because he believed it was what Stormfront would have wanted.

This decision caught everyone off guard. Sister Sage had been absolutely sure Soldier Boy would never help his son. Her overconfidence in predicting human emotions turned out to be her biggest mistake. She had told Motherโ€™s Milk that people are predictable, but love proved her wrong.

โ€œThat episode of the boys felt much better than the rest of the season so far. The Legend and Homelanderโ€™s conversation was good.โ€ โ€“ Fan reaction on X

Homelander (Antony Starr) immediately injected himself with the V1 serum. This made him immortal on top of his existing powers. He now cannot be killed by the supe virus that the Boys had been planning to use against him. The character also showed his clever side in this episode, using a Vought necklace to track down Soldier Boy at exactly the right moment.

Homelander Now Has Immortality

The ending of Episode 6 puts the Boys in their worst position yet. Homelander has secured ultimate physical power, immortality, and political influence. The supe virus that could have stopped him is now useless.

Fans online pointed out that a poster shown in the episode parodies the Superman movie marketing. The image shows Homelander flying upward with one arm raised, mirroring the pose used for David Corenswetโ€™s Superman. One fan wrote, โ€œSuperman: Look Up. Homelander: Look Outโ€ฆ heโ€™s behind you.โ€

The episode also addressed Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and Starlight (Erin Moriarty) accepting that they would prefer death over immortality. This conversation has been building for several episodes as both characters face what living forever would actually mean.

What Happened With The Deep and Black Noir

A smaller subplot in Episode 6 involved The Deep (Chace Crawford) campaigning for an oil pipeline, betraying the ocean that had always accepted him. Black Noir II (Nathan Mitchell) destroyed the pipeline, and The Deep had to give CPR to a dying fish. Noir ended up dead by the end of the episode, with The Deep walking away unharmed yet again.

This side story felt disconnected from the main action, but it showed how The Deep always manages to survive every bad situation he creates. He remains one of only two original Seven members from Season 1 still alive, along with Homelander.

Soldier Boy Depowers Bombsight

After giving Homelander the V1, Soldier Boy used his power-draining ability on Bombsight, removing his powers so he could live out his remaining days with Golden Geisha. This moment served as a reminder that Soldier Boy can take away supe abilities, which might be important for how the series ends.

The episode also continued setting up the upcoming spin-off Vought Rising, which will star Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash as younger versions of Soldier Boy and Stormfront. The focus on their past relationship and the introduction of Bombsight all connect directly to that prequel series.

With only two episodes left in the entire series, Episode 6 has made it almost impossible to see how the Boys can win. Homelander is now more powerful than ever, and the team has lost their best chance to stop him.

The final two episodes of The Boys Season 5 will air on May 13 and May 20, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.
