Netflixโs comedy-drama The Four Seasons just dropped its second season on May 28, 2026, and the finale left viewers with a major surprise. David Tennant showed up as a new character named Gianpiero, setting up a romantic storyline for Kerri Kenney-Silverโs character Anne. The streaming platform has not officially confirmed The Four Seasons Season 3 yet. But the showโs creators have already started writing new episodes in the writerโs room.
The series follows six longtime friends who take vacations together during each season. The group falls apart when Steve Carellโs character Nick dies in a car crash at the end of Season 1. Season 2 deals with the aftermath and introduces Nickโs pregnant girlfriend Ginny, played by Erika Henningsen, and their baby into the friend group.
Creators Confirm Writerโs Room Is Active For Season 3
Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield, who co-created the show with Tina Fey, gave an exclusive interview to ComingSoon right after Season 2 launched. They shared that work on The Four Seasons Season 3 has already begun.
โWe just started Season 3, the writerโs room, a few weeks ago, and that surprise new friend is in the group now. So we were very excited to have him appear. Thatโs our big cliffhanger. Itโs another way that this group thatโs been together forever is now changing up with a little bit of new blood.โ โ Lang Fisher, co-creator of The Four Seasons
Fisher was talking about David Tennantโs character Gianpiero, who appears in the final scene of Season 2. Anne decides to move to Italy at the end of the season, setting up a possible romance with Tennantโs character.
The creators have a strong track record. Fisher and Wigfield worked on shows like 30 Rock and The Mindy Project with Fey. Their history of making hit comedies gives fans hope that Netflix will say yes to more episodes.

Netflix Has Not Renewed The Series Yet
As of June 1, 2026, Netflix has neither renewed nor canceled The Four Seasons Season 3. The streaming service often waits several weeks after a new season drops before making renewal announcements.
Season 1 performed very well for Netflix. The show reached number one on the English TV list for its first two weeks. It pulled in 24.4 million views during that time. These strong numbers helped Netflix greenlight Season 2 quickly after the first seasonโs premiere in May 2025.
Early signs for Season 2 look positive. Data from FlixPatrol on May 31, 2026 shows The Four Seasons Season 2 sitting at number one in the United States. That ranking could help convince Netflix to order more episodes.

Cast Members Want To Return For Another Season
The actors who make up the core friend group have all said they would come back for The Four Seasons Season 3. The main cast includes:
- Tina Fey as Kate
- Will Forte as Jack
- Colman Domingo as Danny
- Marco Calvani as Claude
- Kerri Kenney-Silver as Anne
- Erika Henningsen as Ginny
Will Forte told TODAY that working on the show is โa dream jobโ and that he โwould do whateverโ to keep making it. Tina Fey also shared that she hopes the cast and crew can โtravel some more,โ meaning she wants to film more seasons.
Tracey Wigfield told the same outlet that she would love to see Anne get โa real love story that doesnโt go wrong right away.โ She also mentioned that the team has โconversations that are interesting for all the characters that we hope we get to do more.โ

How Season 2 Ending Sets Up More Episodes
The Season 2 finale leaves several storylines open for The Four Seasons Season 3. Anneโs decision to move to Italy and her meeting with David Tennantโs Gianpiero creates a fresh romantic path for her character. Ginny and her baby Gino could become regular members of the group. Danny and Claudeโs relationship continues to evolve.
The showโs format makes it easy to continue. Each season follows the group through four seasonal vacations. The creators can keep finding new locations and situations for the characters to explore.
Tracey Wigfield made a smart observation when asked if the show could run for four seasons. She replied, โIf you can talk to Netflix, yeah. It would be very nice and complete, wouldnโt it? Weโd like to keep doing the show.โ
