Episode 1 Recap: How Lorna Became the World’s Strongest Witch
Episode 1, titled “I Tried Using the Internet!”, introduced Lorna Hermit, a 15-year-old girl from the noble Guglekas family. When Lorna manifests her skill, it is ranked SSS — but the ranking system in her world places A as the best and G as the worst, so her family believes SSS is lower than G and throws her out for bringing shame to the household.
Lorna is not upset about being banished. She is happy to finally have freedom. While trying to figure out her ability, she discovers that “Internet” lets her search and view everything in her world — including a complete strategy guide called the “Kōryaku Wiki.”
Following the wiki’s directions through a forest, Lorna receives one of the strongest weapons in the world without any trouble. The world tree spirit Yggdrasil, voiced by Nana Mizuki, hands her the strongest staff — even though Lorna never passed the trial that was supposed to be required for it. The episode is packed with internet and video game humor, and Lorna accidentally gains incredible power while just trying to enjoy her new life.
Episode 2 Preview: Lorna Meets a Guild Master Who Wants to Hurt Her
Episode 2 is titled “I Tried Becoming an Adventurer!”. Lorna races into the town of Ifone using a pair of “Charge Boots” and meets Reinhardt Highwind, a town guard who gave up on becoming an adventurer because of a knee injury. Lorna solves his problem in almost no time and then heads to the adventurers’ guild.
At the guild, Elimina Manaflame is waiting. Elimina is the guild master, an elite magic user known as the “Inferno Witch”. She has been ordered by the Guglekas family to hurt Lorna. When Elimina sees Lorna’s power, she is completely shocked.
The official preview describes the scene: “In front of Lorna’s extraordinary magic power, a severe shock runs down the spine of the elite mage Elimina!”.

The Story Behind The World’s Strongest Witch
The World’s Strongest Witch began as a web novel by Mochimaru Sakaki on Shōsetsuka ni Narō and Kakuyomu in May 2022. Square Enix published the first light novel volume in December 2022 under its SQEX Novel imprint, with illustrations by riritto. Five volumes have been released as of May 2025. A manga adaptation by Tamaki Toga launched in Kodansha’s Monthly Magazine Base in May 2023.
Yen Press publishes the light novels in English. The second English volume arrived on April 14, 2026. The English release describes the story: “When Lorna manifests a completely useless ability, she’s labeled an embarrassment to her family and kicked out of the house. With no money or food, she’s about to hit rock bottom. But then, she figures out how to use her supposedly worthless SSS-Rank skill, ‘Internet.’”
The anime is directed by Jōji Furuta at Bridge and Aisle, with series composition by Shoji Yonemura and character design by Yuki Morimoto. The opening theme “Eikyōryoku ∞ Idol” is by HoneyWorks feat. Hakoniwa Lily, and the ending theme “Hoshi o Meguru” is by Rokudenashi.

What Fans Are Saying About the Premiere
Viewer reactions to episode 1 have been positive, with many enjoying the show’s humor and lighthearted approach. One viewer wrote: “It was fun to watch this episode. I get the comedy, and I think this episode trying to show us how powerful Internet is. I mean it is, but depends on who use it lol.”
Another viewer commented on the watercolor backgrounds and Lorna’s personality: “Decent first episode. Lorna seems like a fun protag and I did like the watercolor backgrounds.”
Fairouz Ai, who voices Elimina, shared a comment about working on the series: “Especially the fast-paced passing skit with Lorna is a must-see!”
What Lorna Wants and What She Gets
The core comedy of The World’s Strongest Witch comes from the gap between what Lorna can do and what she actually wants. Lorna has the power to become the strongest being in her world — but all she really wants is a good meal and a quiet afternoon. The show keeps its story anchored in small places, with Lorna’s overwhelming ability turning every forced obligation into something absurd rather than dramatic.
Episode 2 brings Lorna to the adventurers’ guild, a place that should feel exciting but becomes another interruption to her peaceful plans. Elimina’s attempt to harm Lorna backfires in spectacular fashion, setting up the show’s pattern of Lorna stumbling into power she never asked for.
