The Apple TV+ series Your Friends and Neighbors dropped its penultimate Season 2 episode on May 29, 2026. The episode, titled “Propaganda from the Cowardly,” runs for 54 minutes and was directed by Stephanie Laing. It features Jon Hamm leading a large ensemble cast through a deadly dinner party at Owen Ashe’s mansion. This is the second to last episode of the season, with the finale scheduled for June 5, 2026.
The episode picks up right after Coop’s kidnapping. He finds himself chained in a warehouse with a bag over his head. His return home leads to a confrontation with James Marsden’s character, Owen Ashe. The episode ends with a shocking death during a shootout inside Ashe’s house.
Jon Hamm and James Marsden Lead the Main Cast
Jon Hamm plays Andrew “Coop” Cooper, a fired hedge fund manager. Coop’s life has spiraled into crime and risky neighborhood burglaries. In Episode 9, he is the main target of the kidnappers. He also serves as an executive producer on the show. Hamm drives the episode as he tries to take control of his life back from Ashe.
James Marsden plays Owen Ashe, the mysterious new neighbor. Marsden joined the show in Season 2. He acts as the main threat to Coop’s family and secrets. Episode 9 centers on a “boys night” at his mansion. Marsden’s character is high on drugs and holds a gun on the guests. By the end of the episode, Ashe is dead after slipping and hitting his head during the fight.
Hoon Lee plays Barney Choi and Mark Tallman plays Nick Brandes. These two actors play Coop’s friends who join him at Ashe’s dinner. Lee and Tallman are not just background names in this episode. They are present when Ashe pulls the trigger and are witnesses to the accidental death.
The Returning Stars Playing the Cooper Family
Amanda Peet returns as Mel Cooper, Coop’s ex-wife. In this episode, Mel has a new romantic storyline. She ends up having sex with Miguel, the construction foreman (played by Matías De La Flor), in her bedroom. This happens after the neighbors called off the construction job on her driveway.
Lena Hall plays Allison “Ali” Cooper, Coop’s current partner. Ali is missing for most of the episode. Coop tries to find her at an open mic gig and leaves her a voicemail asking her to come home. Isabel Gravitt and Donovan Colan play Coop’s children, Tori and Hunter Cooper. They are seen asleep on the couch when Coop returns from his kidnapping.
Olivia Munn and the Neighborhood Characters
Olivia Munn plays Samantha “Sam” Levitt, a neighbor and Coop’s friend. In Episode 9, Sam is trying to distance herself from Owen Ashe. She looks at a house in Long Island to move away. Sam gets upset when Ashe sings karaoke to her in public. She tells Ashe she needs time apart from him.
Aimee Carrero plays Elena Benavides. She visits Coop at night demanding her half of the money from a stolen baseball card. Eunice Bae plays Grace Choi, Barney’s wife. She holds a baby shower in this episode where she notices Mel is struggling emotionally. Lena Hall and Isabel Gravitt also play key roles in keeping the Cooper family story active.
