ZEROBASEONE member Kim Ji Woong is stepping back into the acting world. On September 4, 2026, his agency Nest Management confirmed that he will play the lead role in the upcoming drama “Siren” (working title).
The news first came from JTBC Entertainment News, which reported that Kim Ji Woong had been chosen to star in the series. His agency quickly backed the report, saying, “It is true that Kim Ji Woong will be starring as the lead in ‘Siren’”.
Kim Ji Woong’s Character in ‘Siren’
In “Siren,” Kim Ji Woong takes on the role of Do Yoon, a third-generation chaebol who is also a student at the police academy. The drama follows his character as he teams up with an ace detective from a regular background. Together, they work on different cases. Their very different backgrounds create a unique partnership.
This role marks a return to acting for Kim Ji Woong, who has been focusing on his activities with ZEROBASEONE. He started his acting career in 2021 with the web drama “The Sweet Blood”. He also made a special appearance in the JTBC drama “Surely Tomorrow”. Before that, he appeared in the YouTube short-form drama “Convenience Store Junk Food” and the JTBC drama “Bad Mother”.
A Multi-Format Project
“Siren” is not a typical drama. It is being developed as a multi-format project that includes a film, mid-form content, and short-form episodes. This means the story will be told in different lengths while keeping the main plot intact.
The series is produced by Take One Studio, the company behind works like “Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid”. Director Oh Ki Hwan, who previously directed ENA’s “The Defects” and KakaoTV’s “Not Yet 30,” will direct the project.
