The question of whether Black Clover will get a sequel has finally been answered. After nearly four years of waiting, the anime is officially coming back. But the news comes with a twist that has fans talking. While the anime prepares for its return, Yuki Tabata’s manga is moving toward its ending. Manga Officially Ends With Chapter 392
On May 1, 2026, Black Clover will release its final three chapters in the Spring 2026 issue of Shueisha’s Jump GIGA magazine. This marks the end of an 11-year run that began in Weekly Shonen Jump on February 16, 2015. The series shifted to a quarterly schedule in August 2023 when Tabata moved to Jump GIGA to maintain a healthier work pace for the final arc.
Shueisha confirmed the ending during its Jump Press 2026 broadcast on April 27, 2026. The Spring 2026 issue will feature Asta on the cover dressed in Wizard King regalia, suggesting who wins the long-standing rivalry with Yuno. The release also includes a special interview with Tabata and Gakuto Kajiwara, the voice actor for Asta.
The final battle against Lucius Zogratis wrapped up earlier in 2026. The story now shifts to the core question that has driven the series from the start. Who becomes the next Wizard King?
New Anime Season Premieres October 2026
While the manga ends, the anime continues. Studio Pierrot is producing a new season branded as Black Clover Second Season. It begins streaming on Crunchyroll in October 2026. This is not a reboot or a remake. The new episodes pick up directly where the original series left off in March 2021 at Episode 170.
The original anime stopped because it caught up too fast to the manga. Production paused to let the manga build more content. During the break, Studio Pierrot focused on Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. The franchise also released the film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King on Netflix in June 2023.
The official return was first confirmed at a Crunchyroll industry panel during Anime Expo in July 2025. Then at the Super Stage event during Jump Festa 2026 on December 21, 2025, the studio dropped a new trailer and key visual. The main cast members were present. Gakuto Kajiwara (Asta) , Nobunaga Shimazaki (Yuno) , Junichi Suwabe (Yami) and Kana Yuuki (Noelle) all appeared on stage.

What The Sequel Will Cover
The new anime season will adapt arcs the original show never reached. The story focuses on Asta and the Magic Knights as they prepare for the coming war. They work to rescue Captains Yami Sukehiro and William Vangeance, who were captured by the Dark Triad for a dangerous devil-binding ritual. The show will then move into the manga’s final storyline.
Unlike the original run which had 170 episodes, the new season will be shorter. Studio Pierrot is handling the animation again, putting to rest rumors that the series would move to another studio.
