Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has officially announced Heyy Babyy 2, the sequel to the 2007 comedy hit starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Riteish Deshmukh, and Fardeen Khan. The announcement came nearly two decades after the original film’s release, marking a major return for one of Bollywood’s most loved comedy franchises.
The sequel was confirmed on September 3, 2026, during a special visit by New South Wales Premier Chris Minns to Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment’s Mumbai office. The production house has signed a three-film deal to shoot upcoming projects in Australia, with Heyy Babyy 2 being the first film in this collaboration.
Sequel to Be Filmed in Australia
The Australia connection holds special meaning for the Heyy Babyy franchise. The original 2007 film was extensively shot in Australia, and the sequel will return to the same country for its production. Reflecting on his experience shooting the first film in Australia, Sajid Nadiadwala shared his excitement about returning.
“Australia is not only breathtakingly beautiful, but also an incredibly film-friendly country with a highly professional, efficient and welcoming environment for filmmakers. From our directors to EP had all had a fantastic time shooting there, and the support and warmth extended to our team made the entire process truly memorable.”
The producer also mentioned that the experience encouraged them to look at Australia as a key destination for future productions. He expressed delight in taking three upcoming films there, especially now that a co-production treaty is in place.
New South Wales Premier Chris Minns welcomed the collaboration, calling it a major vote of confidence in Australia’s screen industry.
“Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment is one of the great names in Indian cinema, so having them choose Australia for three upcoming films is a big vote of confidence in our screen industry. They’ve had a long relationship with Australia, including filming the original Heyy Babyy here almost 20 years ago, and we’re really pleased they want to come back.”
Minns also highlighted that these productions would create opportunities for local crews, creatives, and businesses while showcasing New South Wales to Indian audiences.

As of now, the makers have not revealed whether the original cast members will return for Heyy Babyy 2. The original film featured Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Riteish Deshmukh, and Fardeen Khan in lead roles, along with Boman Irani and Juanna Sanghvi in key supporting roles.
There is also no confirmation about Sajid Khan returning as the director. The production house has kept details about the cast, director, and storyline under wraps for now. Fans and industry observers are waiting for further announcements regarding the creative team and casting decisions.
