Jennie, the iconic BLACKPINK member, recently joined Hyeri on her YouTube show, HYELL’s CLUB, to discuss her latest single, “Love Hangover” featuring Dominic Fike, and her highly anticipated solo album, Ruby. She shared insights into the song’s relatable lyrics, the music video’s unique concept, and the extensive work behind her upcoming album.
“Love Hangover”: A Relatable Tale of Heartbreak
Hyeri inquired about Jennie’s recent single, “Love Hangover,” and Jennie explained the song’s theme. She described the lyrics as capturing the experience of willingly entering the cycle of love, despite knowing the potential for pain and heartbreak. She likened it to a “love hangover,” a feeling of emotional intoxication followed by the inevitable crash. Jennie expressed that she immediately connected with the song and believes its message will resonate with anyone who has experienced the highs and lows of love.
The “Love Hangover” music video, filmed in Mexico, features Jennie alongside actor Charles Melton. The video depicts a series of romantic moments, but with a twist: each time Jennie’s character falls in love, she metaphorically “dies,” visually representing the song’s theme of love’s cyclical nature. Hyeri and Jennie even watched the music video together during the show, sharing their live reactions.
“Ruby”: A Year in the Making
Jennie also discussed her dedication to her upcoming solo album, Ruby. She revealed that she invested a full year into the project, highlighting the effort and passion poured into the album. She also shared that she filmed multiple music videos for the album, though the release dates remain unconfirmed.
From Food Preferences to Future Plans
During the conversation, Hyeri shared her love for food, jokingly admitting that a large portion of her income goes towards satisfying her culinary cravings. In contrast, Jennie offered a different perspective, stating that she would prefer consuming food in pill form if possible.
Jennie’s first full-length solo album, Ruby, is set to drop on March 7, 2025. She is also embarking on her first solo concert tour, “The Ruby Experience,” which begins in Los Angeles on March 6, 2025, and will also include stops in New York and Seoul. Prior to “Love Hangover,” Jennie released the single “Zen” on January 25, 2025, accompanied by a visually stunning music video.
