Marvel has officially confirmed that Elsa Bloodstone, the fan-favorite monster hunter, will join the X-Men for the very first time. The announcement arrived during New York Comic Con 2026 at the Marvel Comics House of Ideas panel. The character will become part of the X-Orcists, a team assembled by Magik to deal with supernatural threats. In an unexpected twist, the series itself has been upgraded from a limited run to an ongoing title before its first issue even hits shelves.

Elsa Bloodstone Makes X-Men History

The reveal came directly from Marvel’s panel at NYCC 2026, where the publisher confirmed that the monster-hunting hero will join the mutant team beginning with X-Orcists #3. While Elsa Bloodstone is not a mutant, her expertise in hunting mystical creatures makes her a perfect fit for a squad focused on demonic threats. The character will fight alongside Magik, Juggernaut, and Madelyne Pryor to stop a dangerous demon that has escaped from the realm of Limbo.

The X-Orcists team brings together a unique mix of mutant powerhouses and magic users. Magik (Illyana Rasputina) leads the group with her mutant ability to open teleportation portals and a mystic Soul Blade. Juggernaut (Curt Marko) brings enhanced strength and serves as the avatar of the demon lord Cyttorak. Madelyne Pryor, the Queen of Limbo, adds powerful telepathy and telekinesis to the roster. Each member has a deep connection to magic, making Elsa Bloodstone’s monster-hunting skills essential for their mission.

Inside the X-Orcists Series

X-Orcists #1 arrives on November 18, 2026, from Marvel Comics. The story begins when a demon escapes Limbo and starts terrorizing both humans and mutants. Magik and Juggernaut team up with Madelyne Pryor to stop the creature, but they quickly realize they need more help. The series is written by Ashley Allen with art by Germán Peralta, the same creative team behind the recent Magik series and Magik & Colossus.

The series was originally planned as a five-issue limited run. During the NYCC panel, actor and writer Iman Vellani — who plays Kamala Khan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — asked aloud, “Another miniseries?” Marvel’s new Editor-in-Chief Steve Wacker used that moment to announce that X-Orcists would continue as an ongoing series.

Writer Ashley Allen described the book as a “superhero girls’ trip” during the panel. She shared her excitement about writing the characters, saying she loved Juggernaut and Magik from the current X-Men run and had to include them. Allen also shared a fun tagline for the series: “Get in, loser, we’re hunting demons”.

Who Is Elsa Bloodstone

Elsa Bloodstone first appeared in Bloodstone #1 in December 2001, created by Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, and Michael Lopez. She is the daughter of Ulysses Bloodstone, a legendary monster hunter. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Elsa was trained from birth to hunt supernatural creatures.

Her powers come from the Bloodgem, a powerful ancient artifact attached to her neck as a choker. The gem grants her superhuman strength, agility, speed, endurance, and regenerative abilities. The Bloodgem also makes her invulnerable to most forms of physical harm and gives her blood the ability to harm vampires.

Elsa Bloodstone made her live-action debut in the MCU’s Werewolf by Night television special in 2022, portrayed by Laura Donnelly. The character also joined the hero shooter Marvel Rivals in February 2026 as a playable Duelist during Season 6.5.

The Threat They Face

X-Orcists #3 arrives in January 2027. The team is tracking a dangerous Limbo demon called the Mawhound, a creature that can possess people and amplify their abilities. The story teases the return of a major X-Men villain whose comeback could unsettle mutant magic across the Marvel Universe. Marvel has described the threat as approaching Omega-level danger.

Bloodline, the daughter of Blade, also appears in the series to lend aid to the team. The first two issues set up both monster-of-the-week battles and a larger mystery that could affect mutant magic in other titles.

Fan Reactions and What It Means

Comic fans have shared excitement about the announcement on social media. One user on Tumblr wrote, “WAIT something actually interesting. Elsa Bloodstone in X-Orcists! And it’s an ongoing now! LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOO”.

A reviewer on League of Comic Geeks praised the dynamic between Rogue and Elsa Bloodstone in a recent Uncanny X-Men story, noting, “I also love the contention between Rogue and Elsa. Two powerful women in their own right”.

The upgrade to an ongoing series signals strong confidence from Marvel in the creative team’s vision. For readers, it means more adventures with a team that bridges the worlds of mutant drama and supernatural horror. Elsa Bloodstone’s addition brings a fresh perspective to the X-Men family — a non-mutant who fights monsters with a cursed gem and a whole lot of attitude.
