What Happens in the Season Finale
Episode 12 picks up with Sorghaghtani refusing a political marriage to Güyük, a move that disrupts Boraqchin’s plan to control Tolui’s clan through the union. Inspired by Sitara, Sorghaghtani outmaneuvers Boraqchin. Meanwhile, Sitara continues her search for Töregene and finds a crucial clue. At the same time, Ögedei summons Sitara and proposes a wager. The episode promises to resolve several major story threads while leaving the door open for the larger narrative from the ongoing manga.
What Happened in Episode 11
Episode 11, titled “An Ungraceful Stone,” focused on Boraqchin’s past and her long-running scheme. The episode revealed that Boraqchin once obtained a mineral that could be used as either medicine or poison. She tested it on herself to understand its effects. In the present, Sitara raced to save Töregene, who had been cornered by Boraqchin’s plans. The episode also showed how Ögedei won Boraqchin’s loyalty after his father’s death, which allowed her to put her assassination plot into motion. By the end of the episode, the only path to reconcile Tolui’s line with Ögedei’s appeared to be a marriage between Töregene’s son and Sorghaghtani—a solution Sitara was unwilling to accept.
The Story So Far
Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia follows Sitara, a young girl from 13th-century Persia who loses her home and adoptive family to the expanding Mongol Empire. After being taken captive, she infiltrates the Mongol royal court under a false identity, using her knowledge and cunning to pursue revenge. Her path becomes tied to Töregene, a powerful woman with her own hatred for the empire. The series has earned praise for its complex portrayal of historical figures and its focus on survival through intellect rather than force.
