LE SSERAFIM opened up about their first-ever collaboration with an Indian artist, Punjabi pop star Guru Randhawa, and shared their growing fascination with Bollywood. The K-pop group spoke about the experience in an exclusive interview ahead of World Music Day 2026.
First Collaboration with an Indian Artist
The five-member group, consisting of KIM CHAEWON, SAKURA, HUH YUNJIN, KAZUHA, and HONG EUNCHAE, teamed up with Guru Randhawa for the official global remix of their hit track BOOMPALA. The remix marks Randhawa’s first venture into the K-pop space and LE SSERAFIM’s first musical partnership with an Indian artist.
The collaboration came together through Warner Music India and follows the success of LE SSERAFIM’s second studio album PUREFLOW pt. 1. The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart and sold more than half a million physical copies in its opening week.
Blending Musical Styles
The BOOMPALA remix combines LE SSERAFIM’s dynamic K-pop energy with Randhawa’s signature Punjabi pop style. The track is built around a Latin-house sound that samples the globally recognized hit Macarena. The remix features lyrics in Korean, English, Spanish, and Punjabi.
Speaking about the track’s evolution, HONG EUNCHAE shared:
“It was our first time collaborating with an artist from India, and we wanted to preserve the celebratory energy that BOOMPALA already had while also incorporating a sense of boldness and vibrancy that are characteristic of Indian pop music.”
She added:
“What was especially impressive to me was how our different musical backgrounds came together so naturally within a single track. It felt like the song evolved beyond a simple collaboration and expanded into something that resembles a global festival.”
Guru Randhawa expressed similar excitement about the project, saying:
“LE SSERAFIM is incredible and BOOMPALA already has an infectious energy that reminds me of the massive, celebratory vibe we love in India. Bringing a touch of my signature style to a Latin-house K-pop track sampling Macarena felt like a beautiful masterpiece.”
Discovering Bollywood and Indian Culture
The collaboration sparked a deeper interest in Indian entertainment among the group members. Japanese member KAZUHA shared her experience exploring Bollywood films and Indian content.
“When I watched Bollywood films and explored Indian content, I was struck by the same kind of powerful visual energy that I often associate with K-pop performances and choreography. I also found the unique character and colour of Indian music incredibly appealing.”
Through their work with Randhawa, Kazuha found it fascinating to see how naturally those elements blended with their own style.
The Supergirl Collaboration
LE SSERAFIM also expanded their global reach into the cinematic universe with CELEBRATION (Supergirl ver.), a major partnership with Warner Bros. and DC. The track maps the group’s signature techno and hardstyle energy onto the story of Supergirl, highlighting a shared theme of resilience.
India Concert Plans
With the group’s PUREFLOW world tour expanding across North America and Europe, Indian fans have been vocal about wanting a concert on the subcontinent. The members are paying close attention to the demand.
“I’ve heard that FEARNOT in India are incredibly passionate. I think our performances are truly brought to life with the audience, so I’m especially looking forward to experiencing Indian FEARNOT’s energy firsthand. I hope we’ll have the chance to meet them very soon!”
HONG EUNCHAE shared this sentiment, confirming the group is eager to bring a LE SSERAFIM concert to India.
Track Performance
The original version of BOOMPALA gained strong international traction, entering the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart and the UK Official Singles Sales and Downloads charts. The remix with Guru Randhawa is now available on major streaming platforms worldwide.
