The latest episode of the Yellowstone spinoff Marshals brought major changes for Kayce Dutton and his team. Episode 7, titled “Family Business,” aired on April 12, 2026, on CBS. The episode showed the Marshals solving a complicated case involving a federal judge and her family. But the real focus was on the personal lives of the team members, especially Kayce as he deals with grief and a surprise business offer.
The episode started with Dolly Weaver showing up at Kayce’s ranch. She wanted him to keep a promise he made earlier—to show her around Montana. They went for a horse ride together and talked about their lives. Everything seemed fine until dinner time, when things got very uncomfortable.
Kayce Faces a Shocking Business Offer from Dolly’s Father
After the horse ride, Tom Weaver, Dolly’s father, invited Kayce to dinner. But the dinner was not just about eating elk meat. Tom asked Kayce if he could buy East Camp, the last piece of Dutton land that Kayce still owns. Tom wanted to add the ranch to his own cattle business. He told Kayce, “We can both come out winners.”
Kayce did not take the offer well. The Duttons have always hated when people try to buy their land. Kayce felt trapped and believed Dolly was part of her father’s plan to soften him up. He ended the dinner early and left. Dolly tried to kiss him goodnight, but Kayce pulled away. She said, “We were having fun until he ruined it, weren’t we?” But Kayce was not interested in listening.
Later, Kayce talked to his teammate Andrea Cruz about his feelings. He told her that spending time with Dolly felt like cheating on his dead wife, Monica. He said, “As much as you and I focus on avenging our dead, I guess we can betray them too.” Andrea asked him if Monica would want him to stay alone forever. She reminded Kayce that moving on does not mean forgetting the past. It just means making room for new people.
By the end of the episode, Kayce agreed to go on another horse ride with Dolly. He did not jump into a relationship, but he took a small step forward. Fans have watched Kayce struggle with grief since Monica died from cancer in the first episode. This was the first time he seemed open to something new.
The Marshals Crack the Federal Judge’s Case
While Kayce dealt with his personal problems, the rest of the team worked on a dangerous case. A federal judge named Pauline Ayers, her husband Blake, and their daughter Fallon survived a car bomb attack. The Marshals had to protect the family and find out who wanted them dead.
Calvin, Belle Skinner, and Miles Kittle stayed with the family at their home. But the attackers hit again with a sniper. The Marshals moved the family to different safe locations. Judge Ayers went to Marshals HQ, while Blake and Fallon went to Kayce’s ranch.
Andrea and Kayce searched for the suspect. They first thought a criminal named Clint Gallo was behind the attacks. But when the shooting continued after Gallo was caught, they knew they had the wrong person. The team searched the judge’s house again and found fake passports hidden inside the walls.
The truth came out slowly. Blake was not just a charity worker. He was using his non-profit organization to smuggle weapons to revolutionaries in Equatorial Guinea. The attack was not meant for the judge. Blake was the real target all along. His criminal partners wanted to silence him.
Blake tried to run away from Kayce’s ranch. He went to meet the people who wanted to kill him, but they kidnapped him instead. Kayce and Andrea tracked him to a nearby property. The kidnappers were former Delta Force operatives. Andrea told Kayce to follow the rules and keep the suspects alive. But Kayce ignored her. He went in alone and killed everyone to save Blake.
After the rescue, Fallon asked Kayce if her father was a monster. Kayce gave her a wise answer. He said:
“No father is perfect. Once you realize he was just trying to protect you in his own messed up way, your anger will fade. I just hope that if you ever do decide to forgive him, he’s still around to hear it.”
This moment showed how much Kayce has grown. He has made peace with his own father, John Dutton, and the complicated feelings that come with family.
Romantic Twists Shake Up the Team
Episode 7 was full of romantic surprises for the whole team. Calvin went to the hospital for ongoing neck and shoulder pain. On his way out, he saw Belle’s husband Jared kissing another woman. Cal spent the whole episode trying to figure out how to tell Belle.
When Cal finally told Belle what he saw, she did not get upset. Instead, she shared a secret. She and Jared are in an open marriage. Belle explained:
“Not that I have to justify anything, but people change. Years go by. My work undercover kept us apart. Things slipped away.”
She said they stay together only for their son. After this confession, Cal and Belle shared a kiss. But Belle pulled away and said it was a bad idea. Both of them were drinking, and they decided to forget it happened. But fans know that this moment will change their friendship forever.
Miles also took a chance on love. His teammates pushed him to admit that he likes someone. He was nervous because the woman is not from his reservation, which makes things complicated for him as a traditionalist. But Belle told him to just go for it. Miles walked up to the bartender Maddie and asked her out. She said yes right away. Then she added, “You must be, asking out your boss’ daughter.”
Miles did not know that Maddie is Calvin’s daughter. The look on his face showed that he just realized how awkward things could get at work. This new relationship could bring some fun moments to the show, or it could create more drama.
