Nora Fatehi has made a bold claim about the controversy surrounding her song “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke” from the movie KD – The Devil. The actor-dancer said that the online outrage was not entirely natural. She alleged that some social media influencers were paid money to make the backlash bigger than it should have been.
The song, which featured Nora Fatehi alongside Sanjay Dutt, faced strong criticism for its Hindi lyrics and visuals. The backlash grew so large that the track was eventually removed. Now, Nora has opened up about the whole experience on a podcast, saying she was not surprised by what happened.
Nora Fatehi Says She Was Ready for the Backlash
Speaking on the Dream with Dr Sheen podcast, Nora Fatehi said that she has been in the industry long enough to develop a “thick skin”. She stated that the reaction to the song did not catch her off guard.
“I already know who hired you, when, and how much they paid you. That was an opportunity well squeezed by whoever was behind that,” Nora said.
She explained that she could see a pattern in how the criticism spread online. She described it as the “script of every influencer” who was saying the same things about the song. Nora claimed that this showed someone had planned the negative campaign against her.
The actor also mentioned that she was prepared for the reaction because of the nature of the criticism. She said that because of the “feminism thing,” she already knew how people would react to her body and her performance in the song.
Nora Fatehi Was Shooting When Controversy Exploded
Nora Fatehi recalled that she was away for a three-day shoot when the controversy started blowing up online. She said she did not immediately know how serious the situation had become.
“I wasn’t panicking, I was not in fear. I was shooting for three days – I didn’t know, and then all hell broke loose,” she said.
When she returned, she decided to release a video to clear things up. She felt that if she stayed silent, people would misunderstand her position. She wanted to set the record straight because many wrong stories were spreading on the internet.
Nora Fatehi Says She Never Approved the Hindi Version
One of the biggest points Nora Fatehi made was that she had nothing to do with the Hindi version of the song. She explained that she originally shot the track in Kannada about three years ago. At that time, she did not understand the language and trusted the team’s explanation of the song.
“Whatever they have done right now, dubbing it in Hindi and the lyrics, they did not take any permission or approval from me. I had no idea about it,” Nora clarified.
She said that when she first heard the Hindi version, she knew it would cause problems. She immediately told the director that she was not okay with it and removed herself from the project. She did not promote the song anywhere because she was worried about her image and reputation.
Nora Fatehi Saw Problems at the Launch Event
Nora also shared that she noticed issues even before the song was released. She attended the launch event and saw the Kannada version of the song. She was unhappy with the visuals used in the lyrical video.
The makers used unflattering photos of her and also included an AI-generated image of her with Sanjay Dutt. She said she was very irritated when she saw all of that, but she kept her calm.
“When I attended the launch, I saw the Kannada version, and I had a major issue because they used unflattering photos in the lyrical video. They also used an AI photo of Sanjay and me,” she said.
She had already expressed her concerns to the makers. She told them that her image and reputation were on the line.
The Sarke Chunar Controversy and NCW Hearing
The controversy around “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke” became a major talking point this year. The Hindi version of the song from KD – The Devil came under fire for its lyrics and visuals. The backlash was so intense that Nora Fatehi had to appear before the National Commission for Women (NCW) for a hearing on May 7.
The complaint against the song alleged that it featured “highly vulgar, sexually suggestive, and obscene expressions”. The track faced widespread criticism before it was eventually taken down.
Nora Fatehi Felt Her Silence Was Misunderstood
After the controversy, Nora Fatehi released a video message to explain her side of the story. She said she felt she had to speak up because her silence could be misunderstood.
“I still wasn’t given any grace. I explained myself. I told the truth. I said I don’t know where it came from, I didn’t shoot for this song. I gave all the details,” she said.
She also pointed out that the full song was never even released. Only some snippets, clips, and AI photos were circulating online. Despite this, people still accused her of lying in the comments.
“Songs like these get produced every day. It is what it is. I am not saying that this is good,” Nora added.
Nora Fatehi Points Out Lack of Power for Artists
During the podcast, Nora Fatehi also spoke about the challenges artists face in the industry. She said that actors do not have much power or control over the projects they work on.
She mentioned that in Bollywood, many people have respected her work. But she said there are certain industries that do not care about her opinion. She was thankful that the song was taken down because of the backlash.
She also urged filmmakers to be more accountable for their actions. She said that artists should not be blamed for things that are done without their knowledge.
