Mindy Kaling is bringing another workplace comedy to television, and this time the action happens across multiple offices in New York City. The series, Not Suitable for Work, follows five young professionals trying to make it big while living in Manhattan’s Murray Hill neighborhood. Hulu will start streaming the show on June 2, with the first three episodes dropping at once.
The show comes from Kaling and showrunner Charlie Grandy, who worked together on The Sex Lives of College Girls and The Mindy Project. Warner Bros. Television produces the series through Kaling International.
The Five Main Leads Trying to Make It in New York
The series centers on five twenty-somethings who care a lot about their careers and, when they have extra time, want some personal happiness too. Each character works in a different field, from high finance to fashion.
Ella Hunt plays Aj Pascarelli, a first-year analyst at a top investment bank in New York. The character gets described as charming but very intense about her work. Hunt previously appeared in Dickinson and Anna and the Apocalypse.
Avantika takes the role of Abhinaya “Abby” Chilukuri, an assistant to a famous celebrity stylist. Abby loves fashion and knows how to get things done for her demanding boss. Viewers know Avantika from Mean Girls (2024) and Senior Year.
Will Angus plays Davis Beau Bradley Barrett III, a high-energy finance worker. The character description says that underneath his loud, college-frat personality, Davis simply wants to find love. Angus appeared in Prom Dates and The Betrayal.
Jack Martin stars as Josh Teitelbaum, a bright New Yorker who can sometimes act like he knows better than everyone else. Martin previously worked on La Brea and Grey’s Anatomy.
Nicholas Duvernay plays Kel Washington, a medical student who struggles to pass his exams while also trying to break into acting. Duvernay appeared in The White Lotus and Winning Time.
Jay Ellis rounds out the main cast as Bill Gibson, a successful investment banker known as the highest earner at his firm. Ellis starred in Insecure and Top Gun: Maverick.
The Recurring Guest Stars Joining the Show
The series brought in 12 actors for recurring roles, including some very familiar faces.
Ego Nwodim, fresh from Saturday Night Live, plays Kate Woodson, the Assistant Head of School at a private all-girls school in Manhattan.
Constance Wu takes the role of Vanessa Hsu, a celebrity stylist who demands a lot from the people working for her. Wu starred in Crazy Rich Asians and Fresh Off the Boat.
Victor Garber plays Wes Dryden, the host of a respected investigative journalism show. Garber’s credits include Alias, Titanic, and The Flash.
Greg Germann appears as David Teitelbaum, Josh’s father who runs a large media company. Germann is known for Grey’s Anatomy and Ally McBeal.
Judy Gold plays Paula, a producer who has worked on the Wes Dryden show for many years. Gold is a comedian and actress known for Better Things.
Harry Richardson stars as Austin Blanchett, a movie star who has become the internet’s favorite boyfriend. Richardson appeared in The Gilded Age and Doctor Thorne.
Laura Bell Bundy plays Amy Pascarelli, AJ’s mother. Bundy starred in Legally Blonde on Broadway and appeared in Call Me Kat.
Stella Everett plays Vivian, Josh’s girlfriend who works as a social worker and takes pride in helping others. Everett appeared in Running Point.
May Hong plays Jocelyn, an associate at the investment bank Fisher Stassen. Hong appeared in KPop Demon Hunters and Full Circle.
Bhavesh Patel plays Dileep, a Vice President at the same investment bank. Patel appeared in FBI: Most Wanted and Chicago PD.
Emilia Suárez plays Elena, an intern at the Wes Dryden show who proves herself smart and capable. Suárez appeared in Dexter: Resurrection.
Michael Benjamin Washington plays Antoine, a landlord who also wants to become a dancer. Washington appeared in Godfather of Harlem and American Auto.

Not Suitable for Work arrives on June 2. The release schedule puts out three episodes on the first day, then two new episodes every week until June 23.
Viewers in the United States can watch on Hulu or Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers. International audiences will find the series on Disney+. UK viewers can watch exclusively on Disney Plus starting the same day.
Kaling shared first-look photos on her Instagram on April 7, giving fans a peek at the characters in office settings and walking through Murray Hill streets.
