What to Expect in Season 2
Creator Benito Skinner has teased that Season 2 will pick up “30 seconds later” after the Season 1 finale, continuing the story immediately. He also noted that while the show follows the same storyline, it has been “elevated in a lot of ways.”
Season 1 ended on a major cliffhanger: Carmen outing Benny after he revealed his crush on Miles, with Benny fleeing as Carmen shouted his secret in front of their friends. Season 2 will explore the fallout from this revelation as Benny enters his sophomore year.
The series follows Benny, a closeted former football player and homecoming king, as he becomes fast friends with Carmen (Wally Baram), a high school outsider on a mission to fit in at all costs. With guidance from Benny’s older sister and her campus-legend boyfriend, Benny and Carmen juggle horrible hookups, flavored vodka, and fake IDs. The show “explores the lengths to which we all overcompensate while on the path to finding out who we really are.”
Skinner has expressed excitement about exploring more stories, saying, “We have so many stories that we are not done telling.” Showrunner Scott King has also hinted at a possible “Spring break with Hailee” episode.
