Alan Ritchson returns as Jack Reacher on August 12, 2026, with the first three episodes dropping together on Prime Video.
Prime Video has locked in the return date for one of its biggest action series. Reacher Season 4 arrives on August 12, 2026, bringing the former military police officer back to screens for another eight-episode run. The new season adapts Lee Child’s 13th Jack Reacher novel, Gone Tomorrow, and moves the action to New York City for the first time.
The streaming service also confirmed that the franchise’s first spin-off series, Neagley, will premiere immediately after the Season 4 finale on September 16, 2026, with all eight episodes available at once. The show has already been renewed for a fifth season, with production moving forward ahead of the fourth season’s debut.
Release Schedule and Episode Drop Pattern
Reacher Season 4 follows the same release pattern as previous seasons.
The premiere on August 12, 2026 will include the first three episodes available all at once. After that, new episodes will arrive weekly every Wednesday. The schedule breaks down as follows:
- August 12, 2026 – Episodes 1, 2, and 3
- August 19, 2026 – Episode 4
- August 26, 2026 – Episode 5
- September 2, 2026 – Episode 6
- September 9, 2026 – Episode 7
- September 16, 2026 – Episode 8 (Season Finale)
This eight-episode season runs through mid-September, with the finale arriving exactly five weeks after the premiere.
On the same day as the Season 4 finale, Neagley debuts with all eight episodes of its first season. This gives viewers a direct transition from the main series into the spin-off without any waiting between releases.
Story: Adapting Gone Tomorrow in New York City
Season 4 moves Reacher to New York City and adapts the 13th book in Lee Child’s series.
The fourth season is based on Gone Tomorrow, published in 2009. The story begins when Jack Reacher is riding a New York City subway train and notices a woman whose behavior matches the warning signs of a suicide bomber. When he approaches her to try to stop what he suspects is about to happen, she pulls out a gun and shoots herself in front of him.
That woman is Susan Mark, a Pentagon staffer. Her death pulls Reacher into a much larger conspiracy involving corrupt politicians, terrorists, and multiple murders. He teams up with Susan’s brother, Jacob, to investigate her death and locate her missing son.
Alan Ritchson described the season as faster-paced than previous outings. On Instagram, he wrote:
“If the story was any more high octane we’d have to check people’s heart health before watching. Things get crazy this season in the best way. We want every year to be familiar but a little different and always [fraught] with peril, mystery, action and a little of that sardonic Reacher humor of course.”
The New York City setting marks a departure from the Southern and coastal locations featured in earlier seasons. The subway encounter that sets the plot in motion is a key moment from the book that drives the larger conflict forward.
Cast: Who’s Returning and Who’s New
Alan Ritchson leads the cast alongside a mix of returning and new faces.
Alan Ritchson returns as Jack Reacher, the role he has played since the series premiered in 2022. He confirmed that filming for Season 4 wrapped in late 2025.
Maria Sten also returns as Frances Neagley, Reacher’s former military protégé from the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit. She will lead her own spin-off series immediately after Season 4 concludes.
New cast members joining for Season 4 include:
- Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette as Jacob Merrick – a policeman who becomes Reacher’s ally
- Sydelle Noel as Tamara Green – a detective with the Philadelphia police department
- Agnez Mo as Lila Hoth – a key player in the conspiracy
- Anggun as Amisha Hoth – Lila’s mother
- Kevin Corrigan as Detective Docherty – Green’s partner
- Kevin Weisman as Russell Plum – a freelance journalist
- Marc Blucas as John Samson
- Kathleen Robertson as Elsbeth Samson
Jay Baruchel was originally cast as Jacob Merrick but exited the production. Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette stepped in to replace him.
Some character names have been changed from the book. In Gone Tomorrow, the detective who works with Reacher is named Theresa Lee, but in the series she becomes Tamara Green. Jacob Merrick is the television version of Jacob Mark from the novel.

The Neagley Spin-Off: What to Expect
Maria Sten leads her own series set in the Reacher universe.
The spin-off series Neagley follows Frances Neagley, now working as a private investigator in Chicago. The story begins when she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident. Using everything she learned from Jack Reacher and her time in the 110th Special Investigations Unit, she puts herself on a dangerous path to uncover the truth.
The ensemble cast includes:
- Greyston Holt as Detective Hudson Riley
- Adeline Rudolph as Renee Birdwhistle
- Jasper Jones as Keno
- Matthew Del Negro as Pierce Woodrow
- Damon Herriman as Lawrence Cole
Alan Ritchson appears as a guest star. The series is not based on any specific Reacher novel, so it tells an original story within the same universe.
Nick Santora, who serves as showrunner on Reacher, partnered with Nicholas Wootton to develop Neagley. Both serve as executive producers and co-showrunners on the series. Lee Child, author of the Jack Reacher novels, is also an executive producer.
Neagley is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios.
