Mickey’s Family Drama Takes Center Stage

Matt Lopez explained that this secret will change everything for Season 2. He said the show will explore why Eva left and why she pretended to be dead all these years.

“It resets our family dynamic that’s at the heart of this show.” — Matt Lopez, Showrunner

Lopez also said that Wes and Mickey will have very different reactions to the news. Wes feels betrayed. But Mickey might be more open to knowing her mother.

“Wes thinks he and Mickey are on the same page that they were both betrayed by this woman. Mickey isn’t as on board.” — Matt Lopez

The showrunner added that Season 2 will focus on a new question. Season 1 asked if Mickey could fix her family. Season 2 will ask a harder question.

Will Mickey and Boone Finally Get Together?

Fans have been waiting for Mickey and Boone to become a couple. In Season 1, Boone told Mickey he loved her. But she chose Alec instead. That turned out to be a huge mistake.

Now, Alec is dead. Boone is alive but recovering from a gunshot wound. However, there is a new woman interested in Boone. Her name is Emmy Yorke, the medical examiner.

Lopez said Mickey might feel jealous. She might realize she made the wrong choice.

As for Boone’s physical and emotional health, Lopez confirmed he will survive. But the shooting will change him.

Lopez also said Boone will have to decide if waiting for Mickey is the right thing for his own happiness.

A Time Jump and a Possible Role for Ben McKenzie

Lopez confirmed that Season 2 will not pick up right where the finale ended. There will be a small time jump. But the show will go back to show what happened in the hours right after the big reveal.

There is also exciting news for fans of Morena Baccarin. Her real-life husband, Ben McKenzie, might join the show. Lopez said he recently had lunch with Ben and is thinking of a role for him in Season 2. He would likely appear as a guest star or in a recurring role.

Cassidy Is Not Leaving the Show

Some fans got worried when Deputy Cassidy (played by Michele Weaver) was not in several episodes. She even drove away in the finale looking unsure about her future.

But Michele Weaver cleared things up on Instagram. She said she had to leave for a while because she had a baby. She is not written off the show.
