Fifty police officers will be deployed in Kaohsiung to maintain order during Kim Soo Hyun’s fan meeting. The ‘Kaohsiung Cherry Blossom Festival,’ managed by the Qianzhen branch, runs from March 28 to March 30, 2025. Local media reports indicate that the police are taking precautions to prevent any disorderly conduct. Police clarified that the deployment is a part of the standard security for the festival, and not solely for Kim Soo Hyun. The event organizers did not ask for extra security, but the fan meet itself will see a large police presence.
Tickets for the 40-minute fan meeting were distributed through a lottery system for those 18 and older. About 200 fans won the lottery. The fan meeting is free, with only the festival’s general admission fee required. The organizers confirmed the event would proceed as planned, despite the actor’s recent issues.
Controversy and Public Reaction
Kim Soo Hyun faced criticism after allegations surfaced claiming he had a grooming relationship with actress Kim Sae Ron during her teenage years. The YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute made the claims, demanding an apology from Kim Soo Hyun and his agency, Gold Medalist.
Kim Soo Hyun’s agency admitted he dated Kim Sae Ron, but stated the relationship began when she was an adult, from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020. They denied any wrongdoing and announced plans to sue Garosero Research Institute for defamation. On March 20, Gold Medalist filed a formal complaint against the channel and Kim Sae Ron’s late family members.
The controversy has led to a surge in refund requests for the Cherry Blossom Festival tickets. However, since the fan meeting is part of the larger festival and not a solo concert, refunds are unlikely. The organizers also stated that free tickets cannot be refunded, transferred, resold, or exchanged,even if the event is changed or canceled.
