The Season 2 finale of Your Friends and Neighbors dropped on Apple TV+ on June 5, 2026. Titled The Night of the Hunter, the episode brings Jon Hamm’s character Coop and his two friends into a nightmare of guilt, paranoia, and a dead body that just won’t stay dead . The episode ends with a fisherman finding something terrible at the bottom of a lake, setting up an explosive third season.
The Body Disposal Plan Goes Horribly Wrong
The finale picks up right after the shocking events of Episode 9. Owen Ashe, played by James Marsden, slipped on his marble floor while high on drugs and chasing Coop, Nick (Mark Tallman) , and Barney (Hoon Lee) . He cracked his head open and appeared to die right in front of them.
Nick wanted to call 911. But Coop refused. He had almost gone to jail for a murder he did not commit in Season 1, and he was not about to take that risk again. The trio decided to clean up the crime scene and dump the body.
Just as they were carrying Ashe’s body out the door, Sam (Olivia Munn) walked in. She had come to break up with him. Sam was horrified. After the scandal of her husband’s death in Season 1, she wanted nothing to do with another dead body. But Coop convinced her to help. She told them to dump Ashe’s body in a pool at a property being renovated, where concrete was about to be poured.
Everything changed on the drive there. Ashe woke up.
He was not dead. He started attacking Barney inside the car. While Nick was driving, a violent fight broke out. Nick lost control of the vehicle, and the car plunged into a lake.
Coop, Nick, and Barney escaped the sinking car. But this time, Ashe did not. He drowned in the back seat. The trio now had a real murder on their hands. To make it look like an accident, they swam back down and moved Ashe’s body to the driver’s seat.
Nick’s Guilt Destroys the Trio
Even though the car was hidden at the bottom of the lake, the three men could not keep their secret. Nick started to fall apart. He became paranoid that the police were watching him. He refused to let anyone touch the money tied to Ashe’s investments. This caused a huge fight between the friends at a Father’s Day party.
Nick fired Barney in front of the whole country club. The two men started a physical fight that sent Barney crashing through a table. Grace, Barney’s wife, had finally had enough of his lies. She kicked him out of the house. Barney had no choice but to move in with Coop.
Elena’s Dangerous Deal with Felix
Elena was also in deep trouble. She needed money to bail out her missing brother. But her cash was stuck in Nick’s gym, and Nick refused to release it. Desperate, she borrowed money from a criminal named Felix.
When Felix came to collect, Elena could not pay. She made a terrible decision. She opened the doors to Nick’s house and let Felix rob it. But Felix was not subtle like Coop. He brought a crew, trashed the place, and stole much more than he needed. To make it look like a real burglary, Felix punched Elena in the face.
Elena’s debt was cleared, but she was now trapped in a dangerous partnership with a violent criminal.
DeMille Returns the Money
Coop tried to return the $600 million he was holding to Ashe’s estate. He wanted to be free. But at the very end of the episode, Ashe’s lawyer DeMille (Oded Fehr) found Coop at a bowling alley .
DeMille gave Coop back the flash drive containing the video of him stealing from Ashe. He also said he was wiring the money back into Coop’s account. It was not just Ashe’s money. Coop was now tied to much bigger and more dangerous people.
DeMille was surprised to hear that Coop had been kidnapped earlier in the season. He suggested that Cricket Birch (Bojana Novakovic) , a powerful investor, might have been responsible. This meant that even with Ashe dead, Coop was not safe.

The Fisherman’s Discovery
Throughout the finale, a rumor spread through Westchester. Some people thought Ashe had run away. But his daughter knew the truth. She told Hunter that her father would never have left her behind.
The final shot of the season showed a fisherman casting his line into the lake. His line went taut. He had caught something heavy at the bottom. The camera suggested he had found the car and Ashe’s body.
Mel (Amanda Peet) , Coop’s ex-wife, also started writing a book about the scandal from Season 1. And with a fisherman about to pull Ashe’s body out of the water, Season 3 promises to be a total disaster for Coop, Nick, and Barney.
