The latest episode of The Boys Season 5 throws everyone into a chaotic search for the original Compound V formula known as V1. Homelander wants it to become immortal. Billy Butcher and the team want it to stop Homelander. But neither group gets what they came for. Someone else got there first.
Episode 4, titled “King of Hell,” reveals that a supe named Bombsight has already broken into the Vought facility at Fort Harmony. He punched through a solid steel safe and took the V1 vials. This moment does more than just create a new problem for the main characters. It officially sets the stage for Vought Rising, the upcoming prequel series.
Bombsight Is an Old-School Supe From Soldier Boy’s Era
Bombsight is not a character from the original The Boys comic books. The show created him specifically for this universe. He first got a mention back in Season 4. The show revealed that he is a former combat pilot who became the third-oldest supe still alive. Vought International approached his parents right after his birth. They asked to inject the infant with Compound V, and the parents agreed.
The actor playing Bombsight is Mason Dye. Viewers might recognize him from Stranger Things Season 4 where he played Jason Carver. Mason Dye will have a main role in Vought Rising, which takes place in the 1950s. The prequel will show the early days of Vought’s superhero program. Bombsight represents the air force branch of the military supes, wearing an airman-style outfit.

MM and Frenchie discover an old safe inside the facility. The safe door has been punched straight through from the outside. Butcher looks at the damage and says only a few dozen supes in existence have that kind of physical strength.
Next to the safe, the team finds leftover heroin. This specific detail helps them identify who broke in. Frenchie explains that Bombsight has not been seen “for decades.” Many people thought he was dead. Hughie points out that Bombsight comes from Soldier Boy’s generation. That means he would have already received V1 injections when he was turned into a supe.
“Bombsight is an original character for the Amazon series, not adapted from the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic books. He was first name-dropped back in season 4, but episode 4 of this season finally makes him feel real and immediate.”
The episode confirms Bombsight stole the V1 “not too long ago.” This creates a new mystery for the remaining episodes of the final season. Neither Homelander nor Butcher knows where Bombsight is hiding or what he plans to do with the V1 formula.

Vought Rising will star Jensen Ackles returning as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash returning as Stormfront (going by her “Liberty” codename). The show takes place in the 1950s and follows the two supes as they get caught up in a murder case. Mason Dye’s Bombsight joins them as a main cast member, representing the air force faction.
Other new supes for Vought Rising include Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel and Will Hochman as Torpedo. The show will explore the trial and error period when Vought was still figuring out how to create successful super soldiers. Kripke mentioned the death and destruction Vought caused on the way to making the four original super soldiers will be an important part of the prequel’s story.

It makes him think maybe there is more to his son than he originally believed. This complicated father-son dynamic will continue to develop as the final season moves toward its ending.
