Netflix dropped a new British psychological thriller called Unchosen on April 21, 2026. The six-episode show follows a young mother named Rosie who lives inside a strict religious group called the Fellowship of the Divine. After she meets an escaped prisoner named Sam, her world starts falling apart. The show has quickly become one of the most talked-about new series on the platform.

What makes Unchosen stand out is its music. The songs do not just play in the background. They set the dark mood and make every tense moment feel bigger. From soft emotional tracks to dark folk tunes, the soundtrack carries the weight of the story. Netflix has not released an official soundtrack album yet. But fans have been finding all the songs on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Prime Music.

Episode by Episode Song List for the Unchosen Series

The Unchosen series uses a mix of well-known artists like Dido, PJ Harvey, and Ane Brun. Each episode picks songs that match the growing fear and confusion inside the cult. Here is every song featured across all six episodes.

Episode 1

The first episode opens with Jamie N Commons: Devil In Me. This song plays when Sam kills a man who attacks him. Right after, Sam runs away from his job to hide from the police. The track sets the tone for the whole show. It tells viewers right away that nothing will be safe or simple.

Episode 2

Ane Brun: To Let Myself Go appears in the second episode. This is the first moment where Rosie starts feeling something for Sam. They ride together across an open field late at night. The song is soft and quiet. It does not shout for attention. Instead, it sneaks into the scene and makes the emotions feel more real.

Episode 3

Emma Ruth Rundle: Marked for Death plays during a turning point. The community finds out that Sam is really an escaped convict. But instead of rejecting him, the Fellowship of the Divine chooses to baptize him. They accept him as one of their own. The song fits the strange and tense atmosphere of that moment.

Episode 4

Two tracks appear in episode four. Sarah Jarosz: Run Away plays when Sam and Rosie sneak out of the community together. They go into town and let loose for a short while. Later, PJ Harvey: Send His Love To Me comes on during the car accident that Sam causes. The song plays near the end of the accident scene, after Sam checks on Isaac and confirms he is dead.

Episode five uses two powerful tracks. Dido: Life For Rent plays while Adam looks through the wreckage of Isaac’s van. At the same time, Rosie tries to calm down Hannah. This song is one of the most recognized names on the entire soundtrack list. Then John Grant: Gods Gonna Cut You Down plays over the end credits. This happens after Grace watches Sam violently beat Mr. Phillips.

Episode 6

The final episode has four songs that close out the story. Skeeter Davis: The End of the World plays as Sam becomes more paranoid and unstable. He just saw Grace attack Mr. Phillips to keep him quiet. Next, Ane Brun: All My Tears appears during the emotional scene where Adam finally understands his mistakes. He drives Rosie and Grace out of the community to get them to safety.

Agnes Obel: Fuel to Fire plays during the final moments. Adam sits broken and alone. Meanwhile, Rosie and Grace find a new start at Mrs. Phillips’ son Matthew’s home. Finally, Laura Marling: Devils Spoke closes out the whole series over the twist ending. The song plays as viewers learn that Sam has become the new leader of the community.

Where to Stream the Unchosen Soundtrack Online

Netflix has not released an official Unchosen soundtrack album. The background score music was made just for the show. Fans cannot stream those instrumental tracks unless Netflix decides to put them out later. But every licensed song from the series is available right now on major streaming platforms.

Listeners can find all the tracks on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Prime Music. Just search for the artist and song name. The songs come from different albums, so there is no single playlist put out by the show creators yet. But fans have been making their own shared playlists online.

About the Cast and Story of Unchosen

Molly Windsor plays Rosie, a devoted wife and mother. She won a BAFTA TV Award for Best Actress in 2018 for her role in the BBC series Three Girls. Asa Butterfield, known for Sex Education and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, plays her husband Adam. Fra Fee, who appeared in Hawkeye and Les Misérables, plays the escaped convict Sam.

The supporting cast includes big names. Christopher Eccleston, the ninth Doctor from Doctor Who, plays Mr Phillips, the cult leader. Siobhan Finneran from Happy Valley plays Mrs Phillips. Two young actors from Bradford, Olivia Pickering (age nine) and Rory Wilmot (age eleven), play Grace and Anthony. This marks Olivia’s first major on-screen role.

The show carries a TV-MA rating. It contains intense violence, sexual content, and strong language. Viewer discretion is advised for audiences under 17.

What Viewers Are Saying About the Netflix Thriller

The Unchosen series has received mixed reactions since its release. On IMDb, the show holds a 5.8 out of 10 rating. Rotten Tomatoes shows an average score of 60 percent.

Many viewers praised the acting but felt let down by the writing. One viewer wrote on Instagram, “I’m watching this right now. I’m transfixed but also unsettled.” Another said, “I watched it in full – manipulative behaviour at its best.” A review on Rotten Tomatoes called the show “edge-of-your-seat viewing” and said the performances are excellent, especially from Butterfield and Fee.

But some critics were harsher. Digital Mafia Talkies gave the show 2 out of 5 stars. The critic wrote that the talented cast is “rudely underutilised in this dull script” and called the series “boring.” MovieZine, a Swedish film site, also gave 2 out of 5 stars and described the show as “annoyingly badly written.”

Release Date and Streaming Details for Unchosen

All six episodes of Unchosen dropped on April 21, 2026. The show is available exclusively on Netflix. Viewers in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and India can stream the full series right now. Each episode runs between 42 and 50 minutes. The total runtime is about 4.5 to 5 hours.

The show is labeled as a miniseries. That means a second season is not currently planned. The ending has frustrated many viewers because it leaves several questions unanswered. Sam takes over as the cult leader after a one-year time jump. Adam disappears completely, and the show never explains what happened to him.
