Iron Wok Jan! Episode 7 Recap: “Shake the Wok!”
Episode 7 of Iron Wok Jan! is titled “Shake the Wok!” (鍋を振れ!). The episode continued the intense cooking tournament that started in previous episodes.
The second round of the competition required contestants to prepare chicken dishes. Jan’s opponent in this round was Yuji Kawahara, a chef who used a vacuum cooking device to prepare his food. Kawahara chose a whole chicken for his dish, and Jan made the same choice.
Kawahara finished his preparations early and spent time reading a book in front of his cooking device. He believed that by doing nothing, he allowed the flavors to develop and layer upon each other. His approach was based on letting the vacuum cooker do all the work while he waited.
The episode built tension around the question of who would win this round. Jan’s cooking style is known for being aggressive and unconventional, while Kawahara relied on modern technology and patience. The outcome of this battle was left open for viewers to see in the next episode.
Episode 7 also continued the ongoing rivalry between Jan Akiyama and Kiriko Gobancho. The sparks between these two characters have been a consistent part of the story since the beginning. Nichido Otani also continued his attempts to get revenge on Jan.
