What Happened So Far in Red River
Red River follows Yuri Suzuki, a modern Japanese teenager who gets pulled through a puddle of water and ends up in the Hittite Empire around 1500 BC. Queen Nakia summoned her to use as a human sacrifice, but Prince Kail saved her.
The story takes place during a deadly struggle for the throne. Yuri joins Prince Kail to fight assassins, navigate royal conspiracies, and survive a world at war. As her actions earn her the title of the goddess Ishtar, she faces a difficult choice between her old life and her future in this ancient world.
Episode 9 showed Kail’s army subduing the Mitanni forces and capturing Malatya. However, during the chaos of the Mitanni army’s retreat, Yuri was captured as a prisoner by enemy soldiers. She was sent to Crown Prince Black of the Mitanni Kingdom, a ruthless ruler. Realizing that Yuri was Kail’s concubine, whom people called Ishtar, he took her to the execution grounds in Wasganni, the capital of the Mitanni Kingdom, as a warning to others.
Why You Should Watch Red River Episode 10
Episode 10 carries the title “Ishtar Stolen”. This directly refers to Yuri being taken by Crown Prince Black. The situation is extremely dangerous. Yuri is now in enemy territory, facing execution. Viewers will see how Kail and his allies respond to this threat.
The anime is based on a beloved manga that ran from 1995 to 2002 in Shōjo Comic. The manga has sold over 20 million copies. This is the first time the series has been adapted into a television anime.
Kousuke Kobayashi directs the anime at Tatsunoko Production. Yoriko Tomita oversees the series scripts, and Kenji Fujisaki is the character designer. The main cast includes Mirai Tachibana as Yuri and Wataru Katō as Kail Muršili. Aya Uchida voices Queen Nakia.
The series is scheduled for at least 24 episodes, so there is plenty more story to come.
