The Story So Far: A Town in Terror
The prequel series to the hit IT films is set in the early 1960s, well before the Losers’ Club ever faced Pennywise. The story follows the Hanlon family and a group of local kids as they uncover the terrifying truth about their town. The fifth episode, “29 Neibolt Street,” delivered major revelations and set the stage for an intense confrontation.
The children, led by Lily, ventured into the sewer tunnels beneath Derry armed with anti-anxiety medication. Their theory was that without fear, Pennywise would have no power over them. This plan led to a critical discovery: a shard of the Shokopiwah meteorite that brought the evil being to Earth. When Lily held the shard, Pennywise was forced to stop in his tracks, proving the object’s protective power.
Simultaneously, Major Leroy Hanlon and his soldiers descended on the Neibolt house, intent on capturing and weaponizing the entity they call “The Galloo.” The episode ended with a brutal twistโthe character Matty, who had been helping the kids, was revealed to be Pennywise in disguise. The real Matty has been dead the entire time.
What’s Next in Episode 6: “In the Name of the Father”
The official preview for Episode 6 suggests the characters will be dealing with the fallout from these shocking events. The title, “In the Name of the Father,” points directly to the strained relationship between Will Hanlon and his father, Leroy. Will is expected to discover that his father is involved in a secret military project to control the demonic entity responsible for the death of Derry’s children.
The episode will also likely delve deeper into the mysterious Ingrid Kersh, the head of housekeeping at Juniper Hill Asylum. Her role is under scrutiny by fans familiar with the IT movies, as an older version of a character with the same name appears in IT Chapter Two as a form of Pennywise.
