ENA’s upcoming romance drama Between Steps has dropped a new teaser, and it shows a love story that is already facing a difficult test. The clip, released on September 21, centers on a tense moment between Park Min Jae (Choo Young Woo) and Im Yoo Jin (Kim So Hyun) as their growing connection hits an emotional wall.
The teaser opens with Im Yoo Jin speaking in a trembling voice, saying, “If you don’t want this, tell me now. Three, two, one,” as the space between them closes and the tension rises. What starts as a warm, exciting connection soon turns cold. Park Min Jae, a former swimmer who lost his right leg due to illness, is seen struggling to remove his prosthetic leg, visibly uncomfortable and lost in his own thoughts. After a deep sigh, he says, “I’m not the right person for you,” before adding, “I think this is as far as we go”. Im Yoo Jin’s frustrated response, “Do you really not have the courage to hold onto me?” captures the painful moment at the heart of the new teaser.
A Love Story Built on Personal Struggles
Between Steps tells the love story of two people who have both had their lives turned upside down by unexpected events. Park Min Jae was a promising swimmer whose athletic career ended when he lost his right leg to osteosarcoma. After going through a very difficult period, he found a new purpose in robotics and worked hard for four years to get into Seoul National University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering. He often hides his sensitive side behind a relaxed, indifferent manner, but he is actually straightforward and has little experience with romance.
Im Yoo Jin was about to graduate from the Department of Clothing and Textiles when an incident derailed her plans for graduate school. While figuring out what to do next, she became interested in robotics and decided to take a completely new academic path by enrolling in a master’s program in mechanical engineering. She is direct, a bit of a troublemaker, and quite the opposite of Min Jae. Their paths cross on campus, and what begins as an awkward connection slowly turns into something deeper.
The Cast and the Late Director Behind the Drama
Choo Young Woo leads the cast as Park Min Jae. He is known for his roles in Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, The Tale of Lady Ok, and Head Over Heels. Kim So Hyun plays Im Yoo Jin. She started as a child actress and has since taken on more mature roles in dramas like Good Boy, Love Alarm, and River Where the Moon Rises.
The supporting cast includes Kim Min Seok as Lim Yu Seong, Shim Hye Jin, Seo Jung Yeon, and Park Hyuk Kwon. The drama is directed by the late Ahn Pan Seok, who was known for helming well-loved romance dramas such as Something in the Rain, One Spring Night, and The Midnight Romance in Hagwon. This series marks his posthumous project following his passing in August 2026 at the age of 64. The script was written by Min Hyo Jung, and it is her first series in two decades.

The new teaser takes a more emotional turn, highlighting the challenges their relationship will face.
