Marvel fans watching Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 got a big surprise when Krysten Ritter returned as Jessica Jones. But the show did not bring her back alone. The private investigator now has a young daughter named Danielle, played by twins Annabelle and Isabella Ivlev. This raises a clear question for viewers. Does this child have powers like her parents?
The show has not shown Danielle using any abilities yet. But the clues are there for everyone to see. And for those who know the Marvel comics, the answer is already clear. Danielle Cage-Jones is set to become one of the most powerful heroes in the MCUโs future.
Danielle Cage-Jones Powers Come From Both Parents In The Comics
The simple answer is yes. In the Marvel comics, Danielle inherits the powers of both Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. This means she has her fatherโs unbreakable skin and super strength. She also gets her motherโs strength and durability. The result is a child who is nearly unstoppable.
The comics first introduced Danielle in The Pulse series back in 2006. Writer Brian Michael Bendis created her as the daughter of two superpowered heroes. The comics show that Danielle does not show her powers right away as a toddler. But as she grows up, her abilities become clear. She can lift heavy objects without any effort. Bullets and knives cannot hurt her skin.
The 2024 novel Breaking the Dark: A Jessica Jones Crime Novel by Lisa Jewell adds more to this story. In the book, a pregnant Jessica starts seeing visions of a young girl everywhere she goes. The girl appears outside her apartment and on the street. Jessica even sees the child lifting heavy tables with ease. This helps Jessica understand that her unborn daughter will have powers.
Jessica Jones Confirms Her Powers Are Changing After Having Danielle
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Episode 6 titled Requiem gives fans a clear answer about Danielleโs powers through Jessicaโs own words. When Jessica meets Matt Murdock on a rooftop, she tells him something important.
โAfter Danielle, it just drops out sometimes, then comes back. I donโt think thereโs an ownerโs manual for this s**t, you know?โ
Jessica is talking about her own super strength becoming unreliable. In one warehouse fight scene, her powers stop working in the middle of a battle. A normal person punches her and makes her bleed. This is not supposed to happen to someone with her durability.
The show explains that giving birth to Danielle has affected Jessicaโs powers. The comics offer a reason for this. In the Marvel Netflix shows, Jessica got her powers from experiments with a substance called IGH. This stands for Inhuman Growth Hormone. When Jessica was pregnant, Danielle likely absorbed some of these hormones while in the womb. This made Danielle powerful but also weakened Jessica temporarily.
Danielle Becomes Captain America And Wields Thorโs Hammer In Future Timelines
The Marvel comics show several possible futures for Danielle. And all of them point to her becoming one of the most important heroes ever. In one future timeline, Danielle grows up to become Captain America. She takes on the shield and carries her parentsโ legacy forward. She has the strength of Luke Cage and the determination of Jessica Jones.
In another timeline from the Old Man Logan comics, Danielle proves herself worthy to lift Thorโs hammer Mjolnir. She uses Thorโs powers to fight Doctor Doom and other major villains. This puts her in the same league as heroes like Steve Rogers and Jane Foster.
Danielle has also fought against Ultron and faced the criminal known as Golden Skull. Her adventures include traveling through time and visiting other universes. She has even met different versions of herself along the way.
Marvel has made Danielle as Captain America a recurring character across multiple universes. This shows that becoming a great hero is her destiny no matter which world she lives in. The MCU introducing Danielle now sets up a major payoff for fans years down the line.

Luke Cage Returns In Season 3 With The Full Defenders Team
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 hints at Luke Cage without showing him on screen. In Episode 6, Jessica mentions that someone close to her took a job working for Mr. Charles. This someone is almost certainly Luke. The show keeps his name out of the conversation for now. But fans already know what is coming next.
Set photos from Season 3 filming in New York City confirm that Mike Colter is back as Luke Cage. The photos also show Finn Jones returning as Iron Fist. They join Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones. This is the first time all four Defenders have shared the screen together since 2017.
An X user posted about the sighting saying:
โKrysten Ritter, Mike Colter and Finn Jones on the set of โDaredevil: Born Againโ Season 3 as Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. THE DEFENDERS ARE OFFICIALLY BACK.โ
The set photos show Mike Colter wearing a suit that looks very similar to Luke Cageโs mayoral campaign outfit from the Devilโs Reign comic story. This suggests the show is pulling directly from the comics for its third season storyline.
The MCU timeline now sits in the year 2027. Jessica Jones Season 3 took place before Thanosโ snap in 2018. Over the last nine years, Jessica had Danielle and stepped away from the superhero life. But with Kingpin still causing problems and Luke Cage coming back, Jessica cannot stay on the sidelines forever.
