A recent controversy involving actor Park Sung Hoon has led to calls for his removal from an upcoming K-Drama starring Girls’ Generation’s YoonA (Im Yoon Ah). The actor, known for his roles in The Glory, Queen of Tears, and Squid Game 2, shared an inappropriate image on his Instagram Stories, causing widespread disapproval among netizens.
Actor Park Sung Hoon has gained international fame for his villainous roles in The Glory and Queen of Tears.
Most recently, Park Sung Hoon has garnered numerous new fans and received acclaim for his portrayal of Hyun Joo, a transgender woman (Player #120), in Season 2 of Netflix’s hit thriller series Squid Game, despite the controversial casting.
The Instagram Incident
Park Sung Hoon shared an Adult Video (AV) cover parody of Squid Game on his Instagram Stories. The post was quickly deleted, and his agency, BH Entertainment, issued an apology, claiming it was an accident.
Park Sung Hoon received many DMs on social media and accidentally uploaded it while checking DMs. The actor himself is also surprised and apologizes for making such a mistake in these times. He will be careful not to let something like this happen again.
Despite the apology, many netizens expressed skepticism, suggesting that the post was intentional, perhaps meant for a “Close Friends” list. The incident has significantly damaged the actor’s public image.
Impact on YoonA’s Upcoming K-Drama
The controversy has directly impacted an upcoming K-Drama, A Tyrant’s Chef, where Park Sung Hoon and YoonA were reportedly in talks to star as the lead roles. This would have been Park Sung Hoon’s second time acting alongside a Girls’ Generation member, following his appearance with Sooyoung in the 2023 K-Drama Not Others.
Previously, it was reported that Girls’ Generation’s Lim YoonA (also romanized as Im Yoon Ah) and Park Sung Hoon were in talks to star as leads in a new 2025 K-drama, A Tyrant’s Chef.
YoonA’s fans are now urging for Park Sung Hoon to be recast in A Tyrant’s Chef, hoping that casting and production are not yet finalized. They believe his recent actions are incompatible with the image expected of a leading actor in a K-Drama, especially one starring a prominent figure like YoonA.
YoonA’s fans hope that casting and production are not fully confirmed yet and that Park Sung Hoon’s character could be recast.
The incident has raised questions about the future of the drama and whether the production team will address the concerns of the fans. The situation remains developing as the public and industry await further announcements regarding A Tyrant’s Chef.
